If you are needing too grab a fast bite the calzones are great. Their bread looks amazing but I am never going straight home so I have never bought any.but.....my all time favorite thing to buy is their home made candy bars......I can't choose the best between the flavors even though the almond joy is pretty incredible

Picked up pastries, calzones and cookies at this great North End bakery. Love the pastries and calzones, but what brought me back was the delicious pistachio cookies!

I love Bova's bakery! The bread is just the best! I am a Bostonian and when I have guests visiting Boston, Bova is always on our tour list. The food and the atmosphere are outstanding. You'll get every Italian speciality imaginable and all done in the old traditional way. The lines can be long but they move fast. All is reasonable priced and portions are large.

A hidden gem and great pastries. There is something for everyone to enjoy and take on the go. They also have meat filled calzones too.

You won't be disappointed at Bova's. Its on Salem St, and does not have the long lines Mike's has on Hanover St.

There are certainly more well known bakeries in the North End. However, this is one of those insider places that Bostonians visit on a regular basis. I am very fond of the breakfast pastries like their strudels and their cinnamon sticks. Great portions for the money! I love their 7 layer bars and peanut butter bars for afternoon snacks. Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
