Anise toast is the best. Lots of real Italian sandwiches, pizza, and other delicious items you take and eat on the way. Their breads are some of the best I have tasted. Worth a side trip.

This is not a tourist trap. Bova's is an authentic Italian bakery with delicious pastries ranging from cakes to cannolis. I had the chocolate chip cannoli and it was perfect!

We make a point to visit Bova on every Boston trip. Not only are they open 24hours, and no lines, they have the BEST calzones! - my favorite is the spinach, but their sausage is quite tasty. Their cannolis are amazing, rivaling Mikes pastries for...More

Bova's was recommended to my husband and I by an Uber driver. It was good, not great, but good. It is far less crowded than Mike's or Modern pastry. My husband had a lobster claw and enjoyed it very much. I got a pistachio cannoli...More

Loved the cannoli!! No crowds either. Walked right in. Staff very friendly. Definitely a must see! Too hard to choose what looked the best so had to try the cannoli but the lobster tail looked tempting too!

Went back again to Bova's to try some of their other goodies besides the cannolis. Did not disappoint. Went mid-week and it wasn't too busy around 8:00pm. Loved the tiramisu and the chocolate bomb (at least that's what I think it was called). Everyone in...More

Anytime I'm in North End for dinner, I have dessert here. Better then Mike's without the tourist trap and lines. Everything is fresh and cheap - I love chocolate and peanut butter so I have the Congo bars. Then I enroll in a 12 step...More

North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like
being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and
Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants,
bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part
in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or
Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma
sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s
home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church

Bova's is an institution and open 24/7. You will need to take your goodies elsewhere to eat. Try the Greenway when the weather is warmer.
