We went based on a recommendation of "best Italian in the north end", and it was fantastic. We were warned that it was small, always a wait ("people line up on the street starting at 3:00") but that it was worth the wait. We got there at 4:30 on a Friday, and it was full but only one party ahead... More

We were walking around the Northend taking in the sties around 5pm. So many restaurants on Hanover St. One stood out from the rest. It stood out because it was the only one with a huge line out side and it was packed inside. The other places were mostly empty. We figured someone must know something we don't. So we... More

I am not an authority on authentic Italian food but I do know our meal here was great. There appears to be a lot of good choices in the north end and we settled on Giacomos after reading the reviews. We were not disappointed. We arrived at about 9PM which meant that we did not have to wait in line... More

Far and away the very best restaurant in Boston's North End Italian district. Located in the heart of Hanover Street where everywhere you look is an Italian cafe, this place always has a line waiting for the door to open at 4PM. Yesterday we were among the first seated. The place can get a little crowded as the dining room... More

Very small place. Had to wait in line for an hour. We sat at the bar which was nice because we were able to watch them cook. Had the better squash ravioli and it was to die for. Best calamari we've ever had and we have eaten a ton of it. Waitress was very friendly but it is fast paced....be... More

We went here after a Patriot's game and arrived about 7.30 so had to wait a while to be seated. It is small, tables are very close together, very noisy but the food is amongst the best I've had so well worth the wait

Stand in line at 4:30pm with the rest of them, and you'll get first seating at 5pm....maybe. Hey - there's only about 14 tables, so you'll have to get there early, or just wait. It is so worth it. (You'll notice that none of the other restaurants on the street have a line.) Hmmm. Appetizers and main course - listen... More

The wait is long: 45 mins to an hour. Try to go in pairs, tables for 2 seems to be more abundant than those that are serving more people. The wait is absolutely worth it. I know, like what? But it is absolutely worthed it. The pasta sauce is magical. We ordered both the lobster ravioli and scallops with linguine.... More

We were in line for an about an hour but it was worth the wait! Some of the best Italian I've had in a long time. Very small restaurant and only cash is taken. Very close but congenial crowd on a Thursday night.

In the manner of Lady Macbeth, I will be scrubbing the garlic smell away for a while, but it's completely worth it. We turned up at 4.30pm and were seated immediately, which judging from other reviews, was lucky. The staff were lovely and the food incredible, and massively portioned. Don't come here expecting to linger over your meal for a... More

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
