Pleasant setting on a small town square, highly recommended by friends. Since we had the private room for our small party, our dining was personal and staffing spot on. The menu was varied and wide. Bottle prices on wine started high but their by-the- glass prices had enough variety to reach all budgets and tastes. The small plate pasta appetizers... More

Fantastic spot. Couldn't have been happier. Beautiful food, decor, attentive and polite staff. Unlike other restaurants in the area, the seating area isn't cramped. The prices are pretty standard from a European point of view but they might be a bit expensive in relation to other places. The wine is on the expensive side but totally worth it. Definitely returning... More

Fabulous dining in a wonderful location. With its warm, inviting ambiance, Mamma Maria has everything for those seeking fine Italian dining. We were seated in a second floor room overlooking the historic North End square, with our friends ensuring we had the view. This is an understatement as the view is so historic, romantic and impossibly beautiful. Before we had... More

I had dinner here with my mom when staying in Boston. We lived in Boston for years and wanted to find a great Italian restaurant in the North End that wasn't too touristy. This restaurant had an amazing atmosphere, was beautifully located in the North End, had valet parking, and the food was phenomenal. They change their menu daily, using... More

My girlfriend and I were seated in a room with only 4 tables in it which was really nice. Her ravioli and my seafood pasta dishes were fantastic and the service was solid. There are so many great places to eat in the North End and this is definitely one of them.

Enjoyed dinner here with several friends, and couldn't be happier with the entire experience. The food was outstanding, and the service was incredible, they really went out of their way to ensure a pleasant guest experience. We sampled a number of dishes from the menu, and really they knocked them all out of the ballpark, I have not one negative... More

We have not been here before but thanks to a very good Trip Advisor review we tried it. Great menu, very wide choice of antipasti and wonderful primi as well. We each ate three different anti and three differing Primi. Each wonderful, scallops sweet, perfectly done, a lovely fresh flounder and duck as well. A good list of house wines.... More

This was my third trip to Mamma Maria's spanning over about the last 8 years. Each time has been a very good experience. It is, of course, a bit more expensive than many North End restaurants but the quality and service deliver every time. In the past, I've had Osso Buco and Pasta with Rabbit and both were terrific. This... More

Our friend had chosen this restaurant for a special event so we took her again. Wow - every course was high quality, as well as wonderful service. There are endless Italian restaurants in the North End, so it is special to stand out here. I enjoyed the Pork, my wife had their famous Osso Buco, and our server helped me... More

The rating on Tripadvisor speaks for itself !!! My wife planned a special birthday dinner here for me. Unfortunately, she booked the wrong date, and booked it for the following day. We told them of the mistake, and it was my birthday, and they somehow found us a table. From the baked oysters and mushroom risotto, to the lobster pasta,... More

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
