My wife and I went to Mamma Maria for dinner while on vacation in Boston area. The location is in heart of North End that has multiple options for Italian food and we chose this place. The restaurant is large and multiple levels and they sat us upstairs and it was very warm. They knew it was and open window... More

It was our first experience. The service was outstanding. We dined upstairs in an intimate setting. There is an excellent wine list. Both our meals were prepared as a10 on a 10 scale. We both had fish and salads. This is definitely a restaurant that should not be missed.

The converted house gives a terrific homey feel to outstanding Italian food. Gnocchi appetizer was fantastic. Seafood well represented in the pasta entrees - suitable for an East Coast restaurant. We loved it and we will likely return the next time we are in Boston. A real bonus is the fact that it is across from Paul Revere's house.

Our group of 26 adults had a wonderful dinner in the Terrace room last month. On a 15-day trip through New England, one samples quite a bit of variance in food quality and service. I must say that this dinner was fantastic - the food was finely crafted, the service amazing, and the ambience of the room almost made me... More

First time dining here for most of our party of six. I had been here maybe 25 years ago. Our table was a bit small for 6 people, and we were concerned it was going to be too cramped, but it was okay. The service was very good, and the food was delicious. We had looked the menu up online,... More

My partner and I diner here on a Saturday evening (we had made reservations in advance, of course). In contrast to some of the service and attitudes we encountered in other restaurants in the North End, we had a wonderful experience here. The maitre d' was courteous and efficient, and our waiter could not had been more pleasant and attentive.... More

We greatly value our "Break Time" & my "Better Half", M, hugely enjoys good food, so in advance of a 4 night stay in Boston (as a JFK / RFK fan, an exciting "first time" for me!), we planned our restaurant schedule well in advance - "Mamma Maria" rated highly, so we booked over 3 weeks in advance, aided by... What a terrific place to dine. Not cheap, but exquiste food. Small areas for diners. Very cozy. Service was great. Lobster raviolli, frutti di mare, all pastas. Everything was wonderful!

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
