On first impressions, this is a nice looking restaurant with a good ambience. Our food was very good, penne with bacon for my husband and raviol for me. However we both felt that the service really let this restaurant and our experience down. Our waiter was so clearly more interested in the large party of diners to the side of... More

We went to the Villa Francesca this year for Boston Week. I had not been there for over 25 years and it is still wonderful. We have so many great restaurants in the Boston's North End that I had forgotten how good Francesca's is and will now return often. We were served by Edwin and he was totally professional. We... Boston surprised with so many Italian restaurant in this area. This was perfectly standard with a sensible $33 fixed price three course dinner. Solid selection of pasta and meat dishes to choose from. I chose an eggplant bruschetta; fish - sole; and a creme brûlée. All fine.

I have to say. I have been a lot of places and we took some doctors to this restaurant with reservations and they had terrible service!!!! They did not fill our waters or ask us if we wanted any other drinks!! One doctor was waiting to get another glass of wine and never did they ask so he didn't. Food... More

Again, part of our self guided walking tour of little Italy, one of the most authentic Italian places we found! Finally got the "rollatini", eggplant, and the red sauce was to die for. The freshest crushed tomatos. Peroni on draft, and in its own pilsner glasses, a definite plus!

Overpriced and very mediocre food combined with unfriendly amateurish service. Gordon Ramsey would have a field day with this place.

Dinner was exceptional. Would highly recommend this place for a tasty Italian meal. We each order different items. Plan to return next time in town!

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
