Within walking distance from long wharf Marriott where we were staying. Beautiful view of harbor. Waiter was fantastic! Actually everyone we met was really pleasant and accommodating. Loved the food and drink that was recommended. Pretty ambience. Would definitely go back!

The menu is extensive and the head chef is always extremely creative. This enables the Restraunt to stay at the top of its game. The service is very god and the staff caters to your every whim. It is an extremely enjoyable dining experience. Pricey but worth it.

Celebrating our 20th anniversary, we wanted fine dining with a view. That brought us to Meritage. At the suggestion of the waiter, I ordered the Chef's Table, which includes wine pairings with each course. It featured an incredible mushroom soup, cod, and pheasant. At $125, it's actually a good value, if you like wine. The views are great as is... More

Having read some great reviews we were so looking forward to this restaurant. We were staying in the hotel. ..which is great. It's an interesting concept to break the menu down into wine paired groups. The hotel has a great position and the restaurant is certainly nice. But service was confused at best. It's very good that they work as... More

This place has a view, an atmosphere and humble staff with a sweat French accent. The lamb is splendid. And Chataeu Lafite Rothschild 1989 from Pauillac was an experience. They still have two bottles in their cellar ;)

We'd read favorable reviews of Meritage in various places and arrived to be a tiny bit disappointed that it was part of a hotel. However, our disappointment quickly vanished as we were shown to a quaint but spacious upstairs room with a view over the water from Rowe's Wharf and tables amply spaced to allow private conversation without the "forced... Came here on a week night and setting outside lovely by the water, though we were seated inside. The service was fine and menu good but the food just didn't quite live up to expectations. Boston just can't make the grade when it comes to fantastic food... Always lets down by the simple things being badly cooked.... Soft shell crab... More

The Meritage restaurant is located in one of the finest hotels in Boston and can easily boast of one of the finest dining harbor views in the city. Along with that, the restaurant is elegant without being stuffy. Although a sport jacket is recommended, only about four men were wearing jackets the evening we were there. My wife and I... More

Perhaps I am a little blind to minor flaws because I have always been such a great fan of Daniel Bruce, who,in my estimation, is Boston's best chef. I know other chefs who have trained under him and they speak of his "demanding personality" and "pursuit of excellence"---- all of which is apparent in the food, the wine, the service... More

Meritage Restaurant + Wine Bar is known for its excellence in wine and food pairings. The connection between wine and food, as well as Chef Daniel Bruce's deeply-rooted ties with vintners from around the world, are integrated throughout the dining experience - from the wine aperitif pairing that guests enjoy with their Amuse Bouche to the olive oil poured tableside from a different featured vineyard each month. Chef Bruce works with vineyards across the globe to source ingredients exclusively for Meritage that are incorporated into the menu, including citrus, spices, herbs, nuts, meats and other specialty items grown on the vineyards. The Meritage menu honors the restaurant's hallmark of matching wine to food and showcases Chef Bruce's extraordinary dedication to the finest ingredients. Native to New England, Chef Bruce has established longstanding relationships with local farmers and purveyors, and bases his menus solely on ingredients at the peak of freshness. Working with unusual and varied ingredients allows each dish on the menu to be unique while simultaneously enhancing the wine's flavor.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
