Great restaurNt! We snuck in for a very late dinner, and despite the fact we (so sorry to the employees!) kept them open as but late, they still served a superb meal. Would love to return

As usual an excellent experience with Chef Bruce at Meritage. Food and wine extravaganza and a remarkable experience. Everything was perfect, including service, food and wine especially.

The food was great - a special brunch for Thanksgiving. But the service was horrible. Either wildly understaffed or undertrained. Long wait for drinks. Drink orders messed up, sometimes more than once. Long wait for tables, yet half the place empty waiting for the tables to be cleared and re-set. Shame; the chef did a great job...

If you can afford to stay at the Boston Harbor Hotel on Boston’s historic waterfront, you can probably afford the crown jewel on the menu of the hotel’s Meritage restaurant. Or perhaps you can’t afford to stay there, but just want to drop a bundle on a truly memorable meal. Either way, the five course Chef’s Tasting Menu is the... More

Okay...I'm Indian, so I guess I have a particularly numbed palette considering all the spice I eat. But MAN was my food bland! I ordered a red snapper dish with some sort of coconut cream sauce and rice, which I later learned was supposed to be basmati rice. Again, as an Indian person, I know me some basmati rice, and... Great dinner for four, and sommelier offered sound choices for selection of wines by the course for each of us. Certainly refined dining, although of course with prices to match. Great disappointment was lack of a true gentile cocktail bar to match the fine dining aspirations - the downstairs bar is fun for another time, but brash and noisy, and... More

My fiance and I were so disappointed with this place. The only reason I give it two stars is because our server was nice. First, my fiance had proposed that day and had called the restaurant a couple times to ask for a nice window seat overlooking the water for our celebration dinner. We were seated at the back end... This was a surprise dinner on our first night of this trip for my 60th birthday. My wife had arranged it all. We were staying at The Boston Harbour Hotel and, though we have stayed there many times, we had never eaten at it's posh restaurant, Meritage We had a great table and the service was impeccable. The restaurant is... More

The Meritage is a very nice Restaurant. The service started very well, but we were early, and as the restaurant filled, the two waiters seemed to be overwhelmed a bit. My lobster could have come out of the roast about 2 minutes earlier; a little tougher than I had hoped, still very tasty, and with the sweet corn and asparagras,... More

On the mezzanine of the beautiful Boston Harbor Hotel, the quiet elegance of the Meritage is appropriate. The room overlooks the harbor, but shares none of the bustle. The room is serene, the service professional and unobtrusive. Our server, Francis, was friendly and attentive, his dining suggestions spot on. I started with a seared tuna appetizer with a red wine... More

Description
Meritage Restaurant + Wine Bar is known for its excellence in wine and food pairings. The connection between wine and food, as well as Chef Daniel Bruce's deeply-rooted ties with vintners from around the world, are integrated throughout the dining experience - from the wine aperitif pairing that guests enjoy with their Amuse Bouche to the olive oil poured tableside from a different featured vineyard each month. Chef Bruce works with vineyards across the globe to source ingredients exclusively for Meritage that are incorporated into the menu, including citrus, spices, herbs, nuts, meats and other specialty items grown on the vineyards. The Meritage menu honors the restaurant's hallmark of matching wine to food and showcases Chef Bruce's extraordinary dedication to the finest ingredients. Native to New England, Chef Bruce has established longstanding relationships with local farmers and purveyors, and bases his menus solely on ingredients at the peak of freshness. Working with unusual and varied ingredients allows each dish on the menu to be unique while simultaneously enhancing the wine's flavor.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
