We were heading towards Union Oyster House for lunch when we spotted The Tap. It looked good and welcoming. Turned out to be a good choice. Lots of choices of draft local beers, and a good lunch menu. Service was prompt and friendly. Salad with grilled shrimp was very good. (The shrimp could have been cooked just a bit less,... More

Tap Trailhouse has a pretty interesting restaurant in downtown Boston that fits its name and matches that All-American, especially when it’s right on the Freedom Trail such as 'I'm a restaurant along the Freedom Trail' theme. I have been here few times on bear tasting event in the past. This time, it was past stop in downtown while showing the... More

My wife and I stopped in for a flight of beers each. The bartender was knowledgeable and made good recommendations (I like dark beers, she likes light beers). The bar was not crowded like some others, so we didn't have to fight a sea of people. We also ordered the pretzel sticks which were yummy. Good beer, good snacks, good... More

We stopped in for a beer and some pick food and thoroughly enjoyed it! Strongly suggest the bacon appetizer - to die for!

If you are in Boston, you should treat yourself to a real experience of local hospitality. The Tap looks pretty much like all the other pubs and taverns in the area. What sets it apart is an always smiling, always sure to please bartender by the name of Cane. His service, knowledge and willingness to learn new things is very... More

The food was pretty doggone good, not excellent, but good. Wait for food was, well, beyond reasonable. Great beer and wine selections as well as a pretty diverse menu. Unfortunately, the wait for the food overrode the possible high tier ratings the friendly staff would like to have had posted.

The Trailhouse Tap is in an area of taverns near Faneuil Hall. I had the 'Trailhouse Toastie'- grilled American and Cheddar cheeses on a toasted brioche with braised beef short rib and apple-jalapeno marmalade- it was the best grilled cheese I've ever eaten! I also had a side salad with creamy vinaigrette. My husband had the Quincy Market (lobster) roll... More

Went her while my stay in Boston. Got a burger medium well, came out slightly on the drier side and the bun was not moist also in the drier side. Drinks are costly but not bad. Service was eh, the manager walking around was better than the server. Don't think I would be back upon my return to Boston.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
