Deciding on an Italian restaurant to have dinner in while exploring the North End of Boston is no simple task. Thank you trip advisor users for helping guide us to an amazing meal at Nico! The appetizer special this day was their Caprese salad with baby arugula and prosciutto. It was amazing! The buffalo mozzarella was new to both of... More

Went to see Old North Church and the Paul Revere House. They are right in the heart of Boston's Italian neighborhood. The entire area smells wonderful, but we had reviewed many of the Italian restaurants and decided on Nico. I'm glad we did! The charming waiter, who had a heavy Italian accent, brought delicious bread and took our orders. I... More

It's as good as you want it to be. The competition between Italian restaurants is stiff in this area so there's no room for mistakes. Nico is up for the challenge.

Had to wait a little longer than our reservation but was well worth it!! We had a group of 6 and no one left hungry! Chicken Marsala was huge! Sauce was sweet but balanced. Porcini Mushroom ravioli was quite garlicky but filling and good. Stuffed pork chop was very generous and well prepared (special of night). Carbonara was phenomenal! Pasta... More

I made reservations in February for a Friday night in march as I knew the north end gets very busy. 3 out of the 4 of us arrived early and sat at the bar. When 7pm rolled around (the time our reservation was for) I asked the hostess about our table, she stated she could not seat us until all... More

At first I was a little intimidated as we were sent downstairs into what looked like the basement of the establishment. However, that fear was quickly diminished when we tried the fried calamari. It was lightly breaded and had excellent flavor. My main entrée was even better, the chicken parmesan. It was a very generous portion that could have served... More

I recently ate at Nico on a Friday night while in Boston for a weekend getaway. We found it small, crowded and loud. We waited at the bar for about a half hour past our reservation time sipping a pricey glass of wine before being seated in the smaller downstairs space. The quality of the food saved the day. As... Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
