Started with lobster bisque which was amazing. Then had cioppino. Really good. Unfortunately they don't deshell the meat for you. But had a lot of different options for oysters.

I am so sorry that you were disappointed with your visit. The dip was actually a smoked trout dip that we offer complimentary to our guests. It does not contain lobster. We have many appetizer options that do contain lobster.

Great food and drinks. Lobster, crab, clams, and mussels tried by members in our group and all raved about it. Service was excellent, good drinks, and a live band(not too loud that we couldn't still talk.) Small corking fee for the wine we brought in...More

I don't recall seeing a kid's menu; just call and ask. The lobster mac 'n cheese would be excellent for that; other sides and appetizers as well.

Description
Since its opening in 2005, The Lobster Trap has been Asheville's premier seafood restaurant, and with good reason. The menu only features fresh seafood caught by trusted domestic purveyors and prepared in ways that showcase the delicate flavors and textures of fish, lobster, crabs, shrimp, oysters and clams. Located in a beautifully renovated historic building in the heart of downtown Asheville, The Lobster Trap features live entertainment from local musicians every night. To that, add locally brewed Oyster House beers, craft cocktails, seafood-friendly wines and southern hospitality and you have The Lobster Trap's formula for success.
