We try to eat at local places when we travel, and we rarely go back to the same place twice. The lobster trap was an exception. The first night we had a whole meal with appetizers and entrees. The fried oysters with grilled Romaine were outstanding. The shrimp and grits were to die for. The next night we ordered several... More

The food they served us was very tasty. As I just love seafood it was easy to please me. On the other hand I wasn’t that impressed about the beer selection. Nor the prices. So I was left with quite mixed feelings.

Sunday April 9th found us entering the Lobster trap for dinner. The desk guy at our hotel told us about it and we are glad he did. Ian was our server and told us about the specials and the place in general since it was our for time there. We started with BACON WRAPPED SCALLOPS! I could have just stopped... More

My wife and I had planned on coming here due to the Lenten Good Friday meat restriction for us Catholics! We are big seafood lovers having eaten at some of the finer places in Charleston SC and Seaside Florida and were wowed at the menu selection of The Lobster Trap. Arrived at around 5 on a Friday night and were... More

I can not say enough good things about this establishment. My wife and I were in town for a long weekend and went there twice it was so good. The service is very attentive without being annoying. The oysters are fantastic. I had 5 dozen over the two visits. My wife had the Surf Turf with King Crab and loved... More

My husband and I came to Asheville for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary. We came across this place and are not disappointed that we needed to wait nearly an hour after the place just opened 25 minutes before we got there. Everything about this place was incredible! The atmosphere, the service, the food and the music...All wonderful! We would... More

The food is seriously great. We went on a Friday night and didn't realize how crowded it gets. So we waited and waited and waited...luckily the food was sooo good it was worth the wait. But my advice for you...go early cause this place fills up fast. There was live music the night we were there and it's all open... More

Louder, casual restaurant with music after 7PM. We ordered lobster bisque, made with heavy cream - $8 for a small cup, but a cup was enough. I wished there had been lobster chowder on the menu, instead. Had the steamed lobster that came with a small piece of corn on the cob, and creamy red potatoes - all good. We... More

I wish I could say otherwise but unfortunately this restaurant just did not live up to our expectations. The waiter was pleasant but very busy. The menu was very limited and the prices very expensive (at least to me) for what we received. I ordered the lobster and there was hardly any edible meat. The sides were just so so.... More

I am so sorry that you were disappointed. I am wondering if you saw all of the pages of the menu? We usually hear that our menu is quite extensive. We work hard to keep our margins small so we can offer high quality seafood at reasonable prices. I am wondering if there was something wrong with your lobster? I... More

Description
Since its opening in 2005, The Lobster Trap has been Asheville's premier seafood restaurant, and with good reason. The menu only features fresh seafood caught by trusted domestic purveyors and prepared in ways that showcase the delicate flavors and textures of fish, lobster, crabs, shrimp, oysters and clams. Located in a beautifully renovated historic building in the heart of downtown Asheville, The Lobster Trap features live entertainment from local musicians every night. To that, add locally brewed Oyster House beers, craft cocktails, seafood-friendly wines and southern hospitality and you have The Lobster Trap's formula for success.
