Beignets are scrumptious. French toast was excellent. I was even allowed a half order which was perfect. I was with two friends. One had an inlet and the other a big breakfast. Both enjoyed theirs as well.

We enjoyed a delicious brunch here. Make your own Bloody Mary bar was cool too! Our waitress kindly offered to make ours since we didn't trust ourselves to get it right. Ample servings, friendly service and was surprised there wasn't a wait! Will definitely return!
Great to hear! See you next time!
According to the woman who we spoke with, "the dishwashers" quit and they have had to adjust their times in order for whoever is washing their dishes to rest. They were closed for Sunday Brunch and Monday Evening, so I would call in advance to...More
I understand it is tough to face the realization that the world does not revolve around you. Next time our DISH MACHINE breaks down, I will be sure you are notified immediately. This happened to be the first time we had to close for a...More
Mayfel's breakfast offerings are nothing short of pure bliss. The eggs are fluffy and heaping, potatoes divine, and the thick bacon is absolute perfection! Oh ... and the beignets are AMAZING! The OJ is fresh-squeezed and coffee locally sourced. What can I say -- the...More
Thanks for the fantastic review. We also think we're the best, but it's nice to hear from someone else too!
A definite must visit for dinner when in Asheville! We enjoyed this restaurant with friends last night, one of which is from Louisiana. He said these dishes are very authentic to Cajun cuisine. My husband had the seafood étouffée and I had shrimp and grits....More
Thanks for the kind words and five stars. See you next time!
Well we were very pleasantly surprised that this was open for cocktails on Sunday afternoon. It was hard to find a place where there was indoor seating with air-conditioning. It's a funky little place, servers are all accommodating, very casual, but good.. We stopped in...More
Sounds like we did right by you...disappointing to only get three stars...anyway, glad you enjoyed your visit.
The chicken and biscuits was outstanding. Chicken fried to perfection, biscuit tender but not doughy, gravy flavorful and just the right thickness. I would drive the 500 miles back for another serving. Well, maybe not, but I will sure eat there with in Asheville the...More
It's ONLY 500 miles, C'mon! ; ) Thanks for the great review!
We were pleased with the no wait on a Saturday evening. We were seated while waiting for our other family to arrive and our server was very attentive. We ordered beignets while we waiting and they were seriously delicious! Honestly, everything was going quite well,...More
So sorry for the end of dinner disappointments. Our steamer is indeed broken. I don't think we will be offering cafe au lait any longer. As for the cold coffee and lack of pudding, I apologize. Hopefully we can make it up to you next...More
By Cajun standards, not too bad. Lived in LA for years and found this place across from the park to have a nice variety of authentic Cajun foods. Prices were fair, but the wait was a bit long. Would return and do recommend.
Mayfel's offers a variety of New Orlean's style/inspired food. The smoked trout dip appetizer was delicious. The shrimp and grits was tasty. It's served with blue cheese crumbles on top, so make sure you request it without if you're not a blue cheese fan.
Thanks for the 5 stars!
