Chestnut is a wonderful restaurant in Asheville. We were looking for a restaurant that would accommodate our food necessities like: gluten free, vegetarian etc. They can do almost everything to make you feel good.

I'm from out of town and on a girls trip to Asheville 2 years ago made a reservation at Chestnut. It was average-- not bad but not what I expected of an Asheville restaurant. On that same trip we did a spectacular walking food tour and one of our stops was Rhubarb. I swore that if I ever came back... More

The ratings all good but our evening wasn't great. Food took forever to get there but I will say the manager gave us our appetizer for free to make up for it. The chicken was very dry and it was overpriced. Was disappointed. Maybe it was an "off" night because many others enjoy it looking at these reviews.

Great food and service and one of my favourites on a three week USA tour. The small cup of lobster soup was fantastic and all four of us were delighted. Don't miss this one!

Not sure why the smaller breakfast joints have 45 min. wait lines to get in. Because while busy, Chestnut's was as good as it gets for local high quality breakfast. Party of 7 got right in at 9:30 on Saturday morning. Service excellent. A little history. A little street life out the window. Good food and coffee at a fair... More

The best fried catfish i have ever eaten. The grits that came with the catfish were also fabulous, creamy, with a slight sour cream and cheese taste. Their take on a barbecue brisket sandwich was also excellent. Our server was knowledgeable, efficient, and personable. I can't say enough good about this place.

While visiting Asheville we ate at Chestnut. The food was really great, the wine selection very good, and the service friendly and impeccable. It was easy to park nearby and very enjoyable.

I'm an Asheville local and first visited Chestnut because of the offer they make for moviegoers at The Fine Arts Theater, just a few doors down. (1/2 off an appetizer or desert with a movie stub!) The restaurant closes early, so it only works to go beforehand or after an afternoon show, but you can use the movie stub anytime.... More

Description
Chestnut is an American restaurant. We are in a 1920s era building in downtown Asheville, right across for the Aloft hotel and the double decker coffee bus. Parking is plentiful (and cheap) at the public deck under the Aloft Hotel.
