My daughter lives in Asheville and her roommate works for The Bull and Begger, I looked at their menu and didn't see much that sparked my interested, so he suggested we try The Admiral. I am so glad he suggested it. We made our reservations a day before and had to take the earliest spot at 5:30pm. It took awhile... More

If you can find this place, I highly recommend it. Just be sure to make reservations several weeks in advance. The Admiral is the consummate hole in the wall It is a small concrete box painted white and gold. Don't let that scare you! It is so worth it! We ordered three appetizers and three small plates. We consider ourselves... More

We are foodies and this was as good a meal as we have ever had. The sweetbreads were wonderful and very unusual and the octopus and grilled dates were superb. Highly recommend this place.

Sadly it was not to be. First the bright points: servers were friendly and prompt, drinks and wine list were both excellent. Now the downside (some issues are personal taste:) The menu looked outstanding, so many choices that we had a really difficult time narrowing it down, but we finally did to 3 small plates; sweetbreads with savory waffle and... They like their disguise and therefore you could spend time trying to find this place as it is off the beaten track. No lights outside and it looks like it's closed. We went for it. Great food with just the right touch from the kitchen. Very nice wine list. A tad small and more of a locals place

The Admiral is hands down the best restaurant we experienced in all of Asheville. The adorable location, cozy atmosphere, stellar service and amazing food made for the best dining in the region. Our server, Martin was a bomb of happiness! He made the best recommendations from drinks to the dishes we opted to share.I can honestly say every dish we... More

This place was amazing. Incredible old school dive bar atmosphere. I had a hard time even finding the front door! The food was beyond incredible. Creative. Tasty. Filling. Better than places I've eaten in NYC and LA. Staff was incredible. Fun. Helpful. I wish I could put this place in my suitcase and have it all the time.

This is a very casual restaurant, and, as others have said, pay no attention to look of The Admiral from the outside. The food that we had here compared to some fine restaurants in New York City. I had a duck dish, served in a broth that was outstanding. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would say that any... More

The food is fantastic! Always unique options to choose from. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. Only drawback is the lack of parking outside.

Don't be fooled by the nondescript exterior, The Admiral's dining room is warm, intimate and inviting. Our meal was memorable. My wife and I shared the fried oysters and a baguette (both outstanding) for an appetizer and each had the bouillabaisse done in a broth that left us both longing for more. The menu during our visit included more choices... More
