We went here for lunch after our cruise around the islands. I had the fish and chips, sweet hostess told me that my fish was swimming in the lake yesterday, very fresh, served with lemon and tarter sauce. They made homemade potato chip, awesome! Husband had the fish tacos which he said were "delicious ". They had a really nice fancy drink menu, if you drink alcohol. Very clean and great service.

I had to deliver a kayak to Cornucopia and decided we'd visit some of out favorite places on the shores of Lake Superior. This was our first extended road trip since the Covid hit and we were a little nervous. We decided to have lunch but didn't want to sit inside a restaurant we stopped at Pier Plaza and they had some daily lunch specials listed on a window sign. They were only seating a limited number on their patio practicing safe social distancing. So instead of waiting I called the carry out order number and talked to Frank who assured me there weren't people standing around waiting to be seated. They were taking to go orders at one corner of the bar area and Frank took my order making sure to include some plastic spoons and forks as we were planning on dining in the park across the street. Frank told me he would bring our order outside so we didn't have to come back in. We enjoyed the sunshine and in a short time Frank arrived with our order.We sure appreciated his attention to detail as the Chicken Wraps and homemade soups were delicious. The chicken in the wraps was supposed to be grilled chicken breast and it was one good sized chicken breast. We dined in the park while watching the sail boats and other assorted watercraft on the lake . We were impressed at the level of safety concerns by Pier Plaza, the merchants in Bayfield and the visitors to the area. We hope to visit again soon.

Great views of the harbor. Make sure you get here early since there can be a 2 hour wait on Friday/Saturday nights. The chicken wings are a good spicy flavor and are delicious. The whitefish cakes appetizer were also very tasty. The pierly cavatoppi Alfredo, make sure to order it Cajun style because it really makes the dish that much better. The pork shank meal was also very delicious and falls off of the bone.

We had a great lunch inside the restaurant at a booth by the window. Had the sweet potato poutine with this amazing apostle islands sauce, and fish tacos. It was so yummy and we shared a Cherry Cider that came in a neat bottle that we kept to use as a water bottle in our fridge!

My husband, two teenagers and I visited this establishment twice while we were in Bayfield. We stopped first to order some beverages to go before we hopped on an Apostle Island Cruise. And the second to eat, after the cruise.
I ordered the chicken nachos, that is listed as an appetizer for my entree. So much food! I wasn’t able to finish it. Hubby order the trout, one daughter ordered the white fish and the other ordered the shrimp alfredo. All the food was amazing, their menu of specialty drinks is worth checking out also.

Phenomenal!!! We are here right now and EVERY SINGLE order is fantastic. (I haven’t written a review in years, but it is so good that I felt the need.). Especially highly recommend the Wisconsin Poutine and the grilled romaine salad with steak. Everything is very well seasoned and they have great options for adults and children.
For health and cleanliness, the servers are wearing masks, the tables are 6+’ apart and they are diligent in their cleaning when diners leave.
All around an impressive place and a great meal!

Had a fantastic lunch on the deck overlooking the marina, food was superb with top-shelf flavor and cooked to perfection. Fish and chips are a 5-star plate, chicken nachos were far more than an appetizer. Served superbly and promptly by Frank who would be an asset to the finest restaurant with the most discerning diners. With a careful eye towards safety, we were absolutely pampered and delighted we came. Don’t be afraid to venture out for a restaurant meal while visiting the Bayfield shores. Be sure and ask for Frank.

I appreciate that many places are understaffed and struggling. Reduced menu? Fine by me, and I totally understand! We came by yesterday for what is likely the last Friday Fish Fry of the season. We had to wait because we didn't know that it wasn't served until 4. No problem, we had beers at the bar. The fish fry is $17.95 for fish that was caught that day, and three sides. The fish is whitefish. Slightly firm and mild fish. I had sauteed veggies (carrots and green beans), coleslaw and mashed potato. I was asked by what I believe was the owner how everything was. When they are open, stop in and have a meal. Take care of your servers and enjoy!

Our family has taken an annual trip to Bayfield for years and somehow only now found the best food and service in the area - at Pier Plaza. The restaurant was hopping so we placed a take-out order of the smoked trout pizza, fish sandwiches, chicken nachos, and the trifecta. And we complicated things by modifying several of the menu items we ordered. Jody at the bar took our order with a smile and had it all ready when we returned to pick it up shortly thereafter. Everything came out delicious and as we ordered it. The fish was particularly good. We look forward to making Pier Plaza our regular spot on future trips to Bayfield.

Due to Covid, dining was outside, but that's where we preferred to be anyway. The only thing open was the outside bar facing Lake Superior which turned out to be a great choice for my husband & I & our 4 year old granddaughter. The kids menu has 2 HUGE chicken tenders along with really good fries & of course we ended up taking a lot of it home. We both (hubs & I) had the chicken sandwich (Sharons favorite?) was really good & they subbed the cheese to swiss for us. They make their own chips which taste much better than Lays any day. Kevin was our server & was very accommodating & helpful. I think coming to Bayfield during Covid was a good thing. Nothing was too crowded (and some places not even open), giving us time to chat with local folks & take our time seeing things which is good when you've got a 4 year old in tow.

I can't believe all of the people that gave this great reviews. I ordered a beet salad and it came warm! Then the server lied about it (or the cook lied to her) and said that the beets and fennel were sauteed and that's why it was warm. You would never sautee beets, and these obviously weren't. What I'm sure happened is that they put it under the heat lamp that they use to orders warm until the servers can pick them up and bring them to your table. Then, she asked if I wanted another salad instead. I picked one, but then she came back a few minutes later and asked if I wanted the beet salad, but a cold version of it this time. As if there were two versions. I said I did. It still was not great, but at least edible. I think they should have taken the salad off the bill, but they didn't. My fiancees dish wasn't much better.

Between the Pier Plaza and the Pickled Herring they have the market cornered, (literally) in Bayfield, but they don't rest on their laurels. We visited in mid September which was “off season” for the town, very few restaurants were open for inhouse dining and Pickled Herring was one of the few. I was impressed with the special care they take due to COVID. Due to the damnpendemic”they have limited capacity. Also, many restaurants are closed on Monday /Tuesday, so I would suggest to call ahead and if possible, make reservations. The food quality is worth the wait, but again, plan accordingly.

My husband and I were recently in Bayfield, visiting the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Based on reviews, we decided to eat lunch at the Pier Plaza, and we’re so glad we did!
The Pier Plaza restaurant is inside the Pier Plaza hotel, right on the water’s edge. It’s a lovely old building that’s been around since the 50s and has the perfect waterfront ambience. We were able to nab a table by the windows and could watch the traffic at the marina. Our server was Janine, who was friendly and helpful and genuinely happy to see us. My husband had the Cobb salad, and I had the smoked trout naan pizza, which was absolutely DELICIOUS! It was “brown sugar-cured smoked Lake Superior trout with caramelized onions, bleu cheese, sliced grape tomatoes and a balsamic drizzle on baked naan bread” and was simply, utterly HEAVENLY. I’m so glad I tried it!
Every staff member at the Pier Plaza was friendly and welcoming, and made our meal that much more enjoyable. Thanks to everyone for a memorable lunch in such a lovely setting!

Great lunch! We enjoyed the fish and chips and Cobb salad with whitefish on the patio. Both were absolutely delicious and filling. The service was friendly and the patio allows dogs (a huge win when we're on our way to or from camping trips with the dog!) The patio also overlooks the lake. No regrets, and we may stop by again on our way out after camping it was so good!

We enjoyed our meal at Pier Plaza Restaurant. I was traveling with friends who are very COVID cautious, so we ate outside on their patio. I think they should maybe clear the spider webs with the massive spiders at least once a day, but other than that, it was a great experience. We had a good meal and felt comfortable. I would go there again.
