The staff is absolutely amazing! Traveling with a 1 year old can be tough, but Greunke's is one of the only places in town that offers high chairs. The food is great whether you're stopping in for breakfast, dinner, or having a beer waiting for take out cheese curds. On top of all that, the place is filled with classic... More

While visiting the quaint, picturesque Wisconsin town of Bayfield, we decided to stay at Greunke's Restaurant and First Street Inn on the advice of a friend. That friend is now my travel adviser for all future travel. From the outside, Greunke's appears to be a small, unassuming place. As you approach the door from the parking lot, the smells from... This was a quirky place. The wait staff was polite and quick to remove my mother's totally inedible ribeye from the bill. The pies were served at room temperature and no a la mode was offered. It's very convenient in location and prices were above average but I would not recommend it for dinner.

We have enjoyed breakfast, lunch and supper here many times. The food is great and the servers are too ! all the photos and history in the place make it a definite stop in Bayfield.....crowded during Applefest, but pick the right time and you will enjoy it.

we ordered the special which was steak and shrimp. the steak was so spicy and overcooked we couldn't eat it. the waitress never came back to ask how our food was or if we needed another drink. unfortunately would not go back or recommend.

Had dinner here tonight and they seemed short on staff and heavy on customers. Don't know if this was an unusual volume they got. However, after several waiting times, between seating drinks and ordering, we did get our food and overall it was good but they ran out of different ingredients. Wait staff was friendly and as attentive as they... More

Have visited Bayfield several times but never tried Greunke's...until today! It was noon and wanted lunch but they also serve breakfast until 1. We got in right away. Not too busy. My husband had a bowl of soup...beef vegetable wild rice with bacon...he loved it. I opted for the whitefish blt...great! Fries were a tad bit crispy, should have had... More

I enjoyed grilled whitefish with eggs for a late breakfast...hoped to go back for a fish boil, but didn't make it. Thanksgiving Wrap, Smoked Whitefish Salad were other favorite entrees. Eclectic decor - fun to identify old movie star pictures, magazine covers, etc. that are on the walls. No two chairs match - some were church pews & park benches.... More

What a great atmosphere here, very laid back. Good size menu all different sorts. We enjoyed the entree of portobellos which was more then enough and the steak sandwich which was enjoyable. As Europeans we are not used to the big sized meal you get in general in the US so this was good enough for us.

If you are looking for something unique, a fun dining experience that captures both Bayfield & Lake Superior, make sure to get reservations at Greunke's for the fish boil. It isn't cheap but you will leave filled up, with a veggie, potato, fresh boiled fish, coleslaw, roll, tea & lemonade, you will have a great time eating outside and watching... More
