I'm actually quite glad that legendary chef and proprietor Roy Yamaguchi still has a Roy's franchise outpost in the heart of San Francisco's financial district. It provides a unique collection of steak and seafood mixed with a potent collection of Asian fusion cuisine. I especially love the fact that their Aloha Hour, aka their Happy Hour, lasts from 4-7pm and... More

Great service from Chad and Ben, with excellent Mai Tai's and spring rolls. We even got to sample one of their signature Martinis that they make with ahead with special ingredients.

My special friends came from Hawaii to visit and we stayed in SFO for the night. Hungry at around 9/10 at night we found Roy's. Now these two work in the hotel and restaurant industry on Maui and I am a foodie so we spend money on good food and tip well. The bartender was watching the television instead of... More

Food excellent, we had a lot of appetizers, star at the chef's counter. Thoroughly enjoyed visit, would recommend to all for a stop by. Did not feel like a chain

Went for birthday celebration with a group of 5. Was touched by the attention to detail in that a separate sheet came with my menu with a personalized birthday wish from the restaurant. I've eaten at the Roy's on Maui and liked the food immensely. But there's something about the ambience at the SF site that outweighed the experience on... More

We had a team dinner here in a very nice private room upstairs in the back. Everything was setup for us well, and the menu had some great choices on it. All the food was really excellently done, and delicious. Very creative appetizers, in particular. My high impression of Roy's is maintained.

We actually have been to Roy's on Maui and Oahu....and happy to say we had an excellent meal and service at Roy's in San Francisco. We had dinner for our Anniversary and the food and service was exceptional. Did not mind paying good money for both! They also asked about food allergies and were very attentive during our entire meal... More

We celebrated my aunt's birthday over there, and I called the restaurant when making the reservation. They were so sweet that they gave us a free lemon tart and the dessert was really good. We order four dishes and most of them were very tasty. We wanted to order some alcohol-free drink, and they don't have a lot of choices... More

Was a great meal at Roy's - service was attentive and food was well-prepared. Canoe appetizer is a must; had the filet and shrimp which was a nice option. Pineapple cake for dessert is a Roy's classic as well. A chain restaurant, but it does not have a "chain feel" when dining, upstairs section is great for larger groups and... More

Being on a gluten free diet has been a humbling experience; most people tend to see me as a vegan and I am usually fed green salads, not at Roy's. The waiter politely asked me if I eat meat, then suggested a delicious dish. I also had a gluten free salad choice. Bravo guys, and thank you!

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
