When you just have to eat falafel, this is definitely a top choice. The super falafel adds eggplant, in addition to the standard toppings of hummus, tahini salad, onions and potatoes (and a hot sauce that has a nice flavorful kick). Though it is more of a wrap than the traditional pocket sandwich, sort of like the ones at the... More

What a treat to taste a falafel from someone who brought the recipe from Egypt. The falafel is different from others we have had but was delicious. The additions of eggplant and tahini was delicious, but I am still on the fence with the addition of fried potatoes. Just not sure about that one. The sandwiches are made on delicious... More

Attended late one evening for a takeout. Between us had a falafel and chicken schwarma sandwich - a flatbread rolled with everything inside. Portions were generous, chicken and falafel well cooked. Flavours a little overwhelming. Helpings were generous, but overloaded the flatbread a little. Certainly a great, filling take-out for the end of a long day, perhaps don't expect haute... More

Great Value, Tasty Food, Super Staff .... this is the best felafel I have had in the bay area (maybe even including northern africa/middle east) ... crazy cheap (super crazy cheap for the Mission), fresh ingredients, made to order and the addition of fried eggplant/potatoes takes it to an entirely new level. I am veggie but I have probably taken... More

We were introduced to the Ali Baba's Cave on a recent food walking tour in Mission. We only sampled a section of a falafel sandwich which was was tasty, freshly made and served promptly, I could have enjoyed a little more. The cave as the name suggests is a small outdated space at the back of the restaurant styled to... More

I eat here at least twice month and order the Chicken Sharwma with vegetables. The food is always fresh and the owners a very friendly. I usually order takeout but there are seats for people who prefer to dine in. The price is very reasonable for the Valencia/Mission District especially since food can be overpriced in the area.

The food was okay. It would have gotten at least 1 more star if the phyllo was cooked right on the item I had. It tasted doughy and not flaky at all. There is an area where you can sit pillows and eat at a low table but we ate at the regular tables. We posed for a picture on... More

We had one lamb and one chicken shawarma plate here. The guy allowed my wife to sub out a salad for stuffed grape leaves on her plate, which made her happy. She wasn't thrilled about there being flies inside the restaurant, but the door was open when we were there, so it was kind of like being outside. Flies don't... More

Ordered the Shawerma Plate and was giddy happy! Hot roasted lamb was perfectly tender and the yogurt cucumber salad was minty and cool. Rice was delicious and onions were sweet and sliced paper thin. The portion was way more than enough for one super hungry gal. The decor was a little worn, but colorful. Reminded me of local places that... More

The falafel sandwich with roasted eggplant in the tortilla was amazing. Falafel was home-made and the place was really clean.

Mission District
From burritos to bicyclists, the Mission is the foundation for all things hip in the city. Cultural attractions, an independent arts community, sumptuous street murals and a high density of bars and cafes make this neighbourhood a magnet for young people. While terrific inexpensive food is abundant, its top-of-the-line restaurants now compete with the city’s best for fashionable diners. Indulge as the locals do by heading to Mission Dolores Park, buy some ice cream, and savor one of the most diverse neighbourhoods in the country.
