We ate here as it just near the theatre where Lion King was playing. Very nice food and service but the lovely clam chowder just didnt leave enough room for mains !

Located in the Whitcomb Hotel, what better location for pre - theatre lunch or dinner than right across the street from the Orpheum Theatre and approx. 2+ blocks from the Golden Gate Theatre! Starters: the fried Calamari was light & tasty but a little over cooked. Salads: Beet Salad - generous serving of variety of beets, fresh orange slices &... More

Made reso's with Open Table and arrived early which allowed us to enjoy a yummy cocktail before dinner. Service was perfect - attentive without being overbearing, with excellent suggestions for appetizers, etc. Delicious entrees (NY Steak and Rosemary Lemon Chicken) served with tasty potatoes and vegetables cooked perfectly. Good wine selection (prices not too bad either) and nice jazz music... More

We booked a reservation here because it looked close to The Orpheum Theatre (literally right across the street). It turned out to be attached to a hotel, but it was definitely not your typical hotel restaurant. We found the service to be great and the food even better. They do get quite a bit of pre-show business, but I would... More

As repeated, it's a great location to keep anxiety down about making the Orpheum Theater times. (Since we often run late, keeping anxiety down is a plus.). We were greeted warmly, given a short wait time and went to the bar. Beautiful stained glass dome over the bar and around the Windows. Good drink selection -- I ordered a sazerac... More

The Market Street Grill is the perfect location for lunch before seeing a show at the Orpheum Theater. The staff is used to dealing with patrons who need to meet a curtain time, and they are very good about getting your food to you in a timely fashion. The menu is somewhat limited, but what they do have, they do... More

Whether I'm staying at The Whitcomb or just in town for business/recreation, I make it point to stop at Market Street Grill. Unlike a lot of restaurants, whether its for breakfast, lunch, or dinner the meals are superb. Consistent deliciousness! Also, no matter how busy it may seem at times you'll still receive excellent service with a lovely atmosphere as... More

The restaurant is part of the Whitcomb Hotel. The hotel lobby and restaurant are absolutly marvellous. The dining room has a fireplace at one end and the hotel bar at he other. The guy tending the bar is outstanding. He has probably been the barman since the hotel opened and he literally owns the bar. You can't help loving him.... More

My friend and I found this little gem across the intersection from the Orpheum Theater. We didn't have time to sit down for dinner so we opted for cocktails and appetizers. This restaurant is wonderful! I had my first Moscow Mule (delicious and refreshing). We had the truffle fries (light and tasty), and the quesadilla was packed with flavor with... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
