My boyfriend and I stopped here during our trip to San Francisco and we loved it! We had been traveling all day (driving down the Big Sur and back in the car for over 12 hours) and this was a great place to finish our day! It was an easy walk from the Omni hotel. I got chicken parm and... More

This restaurant deserves its props. This was by far the best dining experience I've had in a long time. I had the Cesar salad and chicken Parmesan. My boyfriend had the steak which I nibbled on. It was amazing. My favorite was the Cesar salad. I don't think I'll ever find a place that could compare. The tomato sauce was... More

It was recommendation of our local friend and it was really good. Sauce works till 1 p.m. and serve really delicious food. We saw the basketball match and ate delicious food in a pub atmosphere. The chowder and beef were excellent. Great place to visit!

Found this gem on a night out- quiet bar that served great food until 1am- would highly recommend their Mac and cheese. Bar staff were really friendly, knowledgeable and easy to chat to

I often get together with friends to attend cultural events in the Civic Center area. We enjoyed our recent meal here. Great staff, good wine list (but I would have liked a dry white wine option under $14 a glass), diverse and creative menu. We loved the portobello fries, short rib stroganoff and veggie strudel.

Just had one of the best restaurant meals I have had in the past year. We have dined at Sauce (Gough Street location) a number of times since it opened, and have always really liked everything. But, this evening's meal, one of the choices from the $40 SF Restaurant Week menu was truly exceptional. I chose the Brussels & Braised... More

This is a great restaurant before going to the symphony or the ballet. Staff was very friendly, knew when to check in and when to let us talk. Food was very good and the choices were all tempting. The only downside is the noise level which made it difficult to hear across the table.

We were happy to get a late (2 day before reservation) for New Year's Eve. I had the vegetarian prix fixe menu and my wife has the prix fixe with meat. Both were awesome. I was especially pleased with the creativity in the vegetarian menu. We also ordered 1 wine pairing and split it. If you are not big drinkers... More

I had dinner there with my two girlfriends and we really enjoyed all our meals. We especially liked the deviled egg appetizer. I had the beet salad along with the lobster bisque. Yummy! Highly recommend.

Have walked by this place a dozens of times and never went in--the sign and initial impressions are not great. However the food, service and atmosphere was great. This is a solid option, good food and minutes from War Memorial, Symphony, and New Conservatory Theater

At Sauce: Gough we serve what we like to call "Social Cuisine" - American comfort fare so good you'll want everyone at the table to try a bite. It's shared food without the tiny plates. Come sample Chef Ben's creations along with some drinks in the intimate Supper Club; cozy up to the beautiful redwood bar for a signature cocktail; or, enjoy a meal in the bustling main dining room. Experience what happens when Comfort Food meets California Cuisine — it could be our Tomato Bisque
with white truffle grilled cheese sticks; Portobello mushroom fries; or our signature applewood-smoked-bacon wrapped meatloaf, something is sure to tickle your fancy. Located just a few blocks from the civic center in Hayes Valley, Sauce: Gough is the welcoming result of three partners' desire to create a comfortable spot for drinking and dining. Pre-Show, post-show and for all your private events Sauce is the place. Stop by for dinner any night between 5pm and Midnight and see for
yourself; what’s cooking

Neighbourhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway.
