Came here at the recommendation of the hotel clerk and I was not disappointed. I had the mac and cheese special which had ham and bacon in it. Came out nice and hot and was delicious. Service was friendly and prompt. The menu looked extensive leaving me to wish I had time to sample more.

Everything is done to perfection. You can really tell the folks in the kitchen know what they are doing and enjoy putting on a show for you. We ordered a multitude of dishes over several visits and it was all wonderful. HIGHLY recommend this place for just great food.

The food was excellent and hospitality was even better! We were greeted with a warm welcome upon entering the restaurant and seated very promptly. We really liked the atmosphere with music playing in the background and TV's playing all of the sporting events for the night. I highly recommend.

A co-worker recommended Rocco's Cafe so my wife and I decided to check it out for dinner on our first day in SF. The staff were very friendly and helpful with our questions and suggested a great glass of white wine for my wife. She had the Angel Hair Pasta, it was delicious! I had a Center Cut serving of... Forget those snooty food critics who rave about the ambience, sauces and plate beautification... Here is a restaurant (not just a cafe) which has offered good, honest fare year after year! Their daily/weekend specials are excellent down-to-earth hearty meals with no old or dying ingredients, all served in an atmosphere that is both comfortable and retro. I hate giving such... More

Large choice of dishes. There were four of us and choosing was the hardest part. But we were all extremely satisfied. Truly exceptional food, friendly service at correct price. I highly recommend and will certainly return next time I'm in San Francisco.

We were in for a convention, but walked only 15 minutes and found this local Italian joint. Classic Italian fare but no baked Zito or lasagna. Great fried calamari, spaghetti bolognese and garlic bread. Good beer selection... It seems all of sf does.

Rocco's is a neighborhood restaurant outside the tourists area of San Francisco, yet only a short distance from downtown. An artist friend suggested lunch there after I visited his gallery. The restaurant is decorated with metal signs and other memorabilia. Around 2:00 PM in the afternoon, it was pretty busy. After gems told "everything is good" my guest suggested the... More

A long time local favorite in the SoMa part of SF. Saw on the Food Network (DD&D) and thought we would give it a try on a recent visit. A little TLC would probably spoil the ancient decor with sports pictures and SF events from early and mid 1900's. Open style cooking with bar stool seating around the cook area... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
