All I can say is WOW...Sit on the sidewalk and enjoyed the energy of the locals and tourists, alike! Celebrated my birthday with the Handmade Gnocchi with the Creamy Pesto and Bolognaise split...they did this split just for my birthday...Best I have EVER had...OMG...Amazing!!! Sit by the outside Menu Posting and told so many people about how AMAZING the Gnocchi... More

I visited here with a couple of old friends. One was from San Francisco and recommended it as a non-touristy kind of place. The place was cozy and welcoming. The server was friendly and helpful and the prices were very reasonable. We had the gnocchi, ravioli and chick parm - all very tasty. The waiter was even nice enough to... More

Great for a casual meal. My wife and I had a long day and went into about 4 other Italian restaurants in the area. All of which seemed out of whack with formality and price. We walked into Michelangelo cafe and felt comfortable and able to take our time. One look at the menu let us know we were in... More

Great food, great service. Food arrived piping hot, and was tasty and fresh. Delicious free olives and fresh bread.

We walked by this restaurant on several trips down Columbus and noted that the menu showed reasonable prices. The aroma coming out of the door was also wonderful. I had the chicken parmiganno and my wife had the eggplant parmiganno. The house chianti was excellent as was my wife; proseco (at happy hour prices!). Great waiter and decor.

The atmosphere is cozy, the food is incredible and the service is great. Ate there 2 times in the 4 days we were there. The first meal we both got a veal dish. Both were outstanding . The veal melted in your mouth. And the sides of Broccoli with garlic and roasted potatos were great. Our second visit we got... More

the meals were very good. I would recommend the gnocchi which is made in house. There is also a Groupon available right now also for more savings.

The place is small, but cozy. It's decorated with iconic statues of Italy, charming! The wines are good and food also. The parmegiana was delicious!

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
