We had a really nice experience at Isa. We were asked where we preferred to sit and we chose the back patio room which was quiet, intimate and warm. The wine that was recommended was very good. The bread was delicious. We chose a variety of plates to share - the oysters, asparagus, scallops, prawns as well as the chicken... More

Without a lot of pretense one of the better restaurants to be found in the Marina District. A small place with nice ambiance, a bit dark, which my wife found very romantic. The restaurant offers either a prix fixe dinner or a la carte dining. Happy hour is until 7 PM with 5 dollar drinks. No mixed drinks, only beer... More

Each time I come to this wonderful restaurant I have something completely different and I'm always delighted. If you have friends who don't mind sharing each others food then bring them along so that you can have tastes of several dishes.

Cute restaurant. Good wine, good food. Everything is family style. Its small though, so try to make reservations before going.

Excellent small portions menu, The device was great. We had one of the most efficient and charming waiter. The food experience was what we had been recommended by some San Francisco friends. Too bad we had to go through the dishwashing area to get to our table.... This being said, we will go back for the food....(I recommend the risotto))

We had a great 4 course meal from soup to dessert. The restaurant started with a great bread, then on to soups which were "okay" (not bad, but not up to the rest of the meal). Next we had the mussels -- which were super and very fresh in a great broth, and the dungeness crab salad which was delicious.... More

We went on New Year's Eve, so it was a prix fixe menu. The options were still outstanding, including a Baked Laura chenel goat cheese dish, the truffle risotto and creme brulee. The service was great, very quick and thoughtful. The price was reasonable. The atmosphere of the main section of the restaurant is quaint and warm. The patio though... More

After a long flight, we decided on Isa for a more casual first night in San Francisco and we were also interested in the menu promising of California cuisine. We were seated in the back patio, a nice spacious heated area, and ordered a bottle of wine from their varied list, which also offered several selections by the glass. Our... More

I had dinner at Isa on a Sunday with three friends and we had a wonderful time. We all picked from the prix fixe meal which gives choices of starters, mains and cheese or dessert. . I had the salmon carpaccio starter, the flat iron steak and ended with aged goat cheese drizzled with honey. Everything we ordered was great... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
