Amazing food, surprise courses, unexpected considerate extra touches and simply amazing food. The squid ink risotto a highlight among many.

I really tried to find something wrong but it was impossible. This is by far the best restaurant there is. I dare anyone to find another that is in the same class. First of all the restaurant itself is spectacular. Built inside a retired chapel, the ambiance is perfect. The service in one word is OUTSTANDING. Now to the food.... More

Nice atmosphere but had been expecting better food. I will not be returning any time soon. We checked reviews and decided we would try it. We were two couples.

What I liked most: Bison course; very helpful sommelier; Bourbon-caramel semifreddo; three course prix fixe option What I liked least: Solemn ambiance; bland amuse bouche(s); no cocktails If you are ever near Washington, DC, eat at the Inn at Little Washington (just awarded 2 stars by Michelin) and tell me if you think Acquerello is in the same league.

It is hard to believe that this is what passes for a two-star Michelin restaurant. The first amuse-bouche consisting of some sort of generic mushroom in an odd cinnamon broth was a bad portent of things to come. The balance of the meal was the same. There were very basic plates, small portions, nothing inventive, no special presentations, no vegetables,... More

Having dined in both the main dining room as well as the private room, I cannot say enough about this fantastic restaurant. The attention to detail, amazing food presentations, and delicious wine and food pairing, make this an exceptional dining experience in San Francisco. Simply THE BEST!

The restaurant don't give a option to choose for a single plate (antipasto, primi pasta, secondi entree, cheese infusion, and dolci/dessert). You have a choice of 3 , 4 or 5 plates per person which makes it very expensive. The 3 courses $ 95 starting. The food is excellet but plates very small in each category . Woth the money?... More

This restaurant is quaint, not a lot of tables which helps them provide excellent attention to all of their customers. The menu choices are a chefs tasting with or without wine pairings or 3-5 course menu based on how many courses you would like to choose from. The food is excellent, and the presentation is beautiful. The staff are all... More

What a fantastic experience from start to finish! The service, the quality of the food, the amazing wine list, and the beautiful interior all make for an excellent dining experience! What I especially love about this restaurant is the attention to detail, and the way the waiters are always there when you need them, without ever see need to be... More

Our dinner was a perfect experience that exceeded all expectations! Every mouthful, from the amuse bouches to the chocolates after dessert were absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable, the setting elegant. It was a pleasure to eat at a restaurant that does not rely on novelty or the trend-du-jour, but simply serves unbelievably delicious food in an elegant setting with... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
