Ate here last night (prix fixe option) - the food was excellent, with multiple subtle flavors on each dish. The staff works like a well oiled machine - every member filling whatever tasks need to be done. And the price is actually a bargain considering...More

We reserve the table 2 weeks prior to arrival. The place looks kind of classy, not as flashy like other contemporary restaurants. It has a vibe of such old-school Italian restaurant. We were quite impressed with the food as we order the 10 course tasting...More

Set in a converted chapel, setting, food & service elegant. Prix fixe dinners from $105 for 3 courses, $130 for 4, $150 for 5 from regular menu, plus seasonal special multi course for $195. Portions small, but even 3 courses enough unless you are ravenous,...More

Acquerello is a must for us when we visit San Francisco without the kids. On this occasion we actually had one of our boys with us. He enjoys good food and is fairly adventurous for his age and the staff were very accommodating. He still...More

It is a pretty spot. The wine service was excellent. Rafael was a true star. He was informative and fun. Now for the food. It is definitely bold but not finessed. We had caviar, the seafood platter and smoked squab to start. Of these we...More

I've lived a few blocks away for a few years and had walked by Acquerello's unassuming awning dozens of times. I'm so glad my husband and I finally decided to dine here - what a surprise! We ordered the four-course option, and opted to skip...More

And the spacing is outstanding. We had three courses. Started with a circle of caviar which was excellent as was the lamb and then the generous cheese course. Service was faultless. A very nice wine list. It was a wonderful dining experience. Perhaps our best...More

Some foodie friends joined me and my husband for our first dinner here at Acquerello. We found the food to be truly outstanding: adventurous, bold, yet with a classic Italian palate. We tried the white truffle menu despite their not having sufficient white truffles for...More

We dined here with a group of six friends. Every one of us commented during the dinner that we would not dine here again. We are all long time residents of the bay area and accustomed to fine dining here in San Francisco and around...More

We make it a point when traveling internationally to treat ourselves to a Michelin star dinner at each location and yet had rarely been to a Michelin star restaurant in our own town so we decided to give Acquerello a try. There was a bit...More

Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the
city and is home to amazing architecture and views.
The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for
those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be
rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful
architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated
with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all
were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that

Acquerello, named for its original watercolors, envelops guests in a warm and gracious atmosphere the moment they arrive. "At Acquerello, we believe that refined luxury is always in style. Our desire is to provide our guests an experience of classic and contemporary Italian tastes in an elegant dining atmosphere." The 40 seat dining room has an upscale and quiet ambiance. The room, designed by John Wheatman, highlights the former chapel, graced with arches and a rustic wood-beamed vaulted ceiling, with warm Mediterranean colors of gold and terracotta. Acquerello's contemporary approach to Italain cuisine combines the freshest ingredients available, an innovative approach to classic Italian flavors, and modern techniques. Guests can design their own three, four or five course dinner with the Prix Fixe Menus or choose to enjoy the preset chef's Seasonal Tasting Menu. Acquerello,in its more than 25 years in operation, has received countless accolades and awards, including a Michelin star in the first-ever 2007 Bay Area guide, two Michelin Stars in 2015, and a Wine Spectator Grand Award for the wine list continuously since 2012.
