Anchor Oyster Bar is often underrated because of its small space and long waits outside for a table. Do not let these factors fool you. There are a few bars to grab a drink from across the street while you wait or you can walk...More

The menu is small, but does not lack in luster. Everything we ordered was wonderful, oyster, fish, chowder and pranws The service is effecient and casual. The price was quitable with the quality of the food. There can be a wait, so I recommend an...More

The wait can be daunting for some, but it is always worth it! You can add your name to the list and go across the street to the wine bar for a glass and just check back in....Whatever the fish special of the night is,...More

I frequently go here to buy fresh fish. It's always really fresh. I haven't eaten here, but when I come in to buy fresh fist, every table is taken and the patrons seem to be having a really good time. The portions are large and...More

We went for lunch and we were the first ones on the wait board. One of the ladies brought us out a cup of complimentary clam chowder because it was cold outside. So sweet. The oysters were excellent and the clams perhaps the best I’ve...More

If you don't mind the LONG line and the cash only...you absolutely need to visit this one. The oysters are superb and their other dishes are also very good. A must in San Francisco.

This was our second time to eat at this highly acclaimed restaurant. Wonderful chowder, fried crab cakes and oysters. We will definitely return here on future trips to SF.

I’m so fortunate to live within walking distance of this neighborhood gem! There’s almost always a line out the door, it it’s certainly worthwhile if you have some time. You can always browse around Castro shops or have a drink at a nearby resto or...More

I love this place! The food is always delicious, especially the clam chowder and the lemonade. Very limited menu, small place and often a long wait, but worth it.

We had a dozen oysters and Dungeness crab and it was all delicious. This is old school, hole in the wall dining that seats about 30 people tops, so be prepared to wait in line. Would highly recommend!

The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San
Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart,
the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As
one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in
the United States and currently its largest, it
remains one of the epicenters of activism in the
nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete
with bars and fashionable eateries for attention,

I am sorry to hear your glasses were lost. I can't speak for the restaurant...and those are expensive glasses...have you thought of all the ways to contact them? You probably have already thought to sent them a snail mail... More
