Solid spot. Interesting crowd and mix for a French bistro, but the staff, the guests, everyone was a joy. It is quite unassuming, behind an unassuming facade. It's white cloth and near fine dining with fantastic service. It's crowded, and our table was located in a less than perfect spot, but they really do a fantastic job servicing you, and... More

Waited 20 mins for water and menus, then the service got worse. Food overcooked, Noisy interior, owner swanning about acting very French while the clients have a rotten experience. Would NOT recommend this, its a waste of time and money, as there are too many other good choices in the city.

Recently had dinner and loved it. This gem in the inner Richmond has not lost its way. The corn soup and bacon wrapped pork tenderloin were amazingly good and the rest of our courses were excellent. Dinner for 2 with the 3 course meals and 4 glasses of wine lasted about 2 1/2 delightful hours and was about $150 including... More

Great food, great service. Authentic French food done very well & there is very little else to add. What a find!

I found this restaurant on Trip Advisor and I am so very glad we ate there. The chef/owner came to our table to greet us. Our server Michael was wonderful. The food was absolutely delicious! Probably one of the best onion soups I have had! I had the Filet Mignon and it was cooked perfectly to order. Dessert was great!... More

Had my wife's birthday dinner last week at Chapeau. Place is a neighbor gem. Place is the very classic bistro (small & noisy) with very good ambiance. Service was very gently and sympathetic, good recommendations from our waiter. Chapeau offer several great menu (chef, veggie, others) that is good way to taste several small portions of their excellent cuisine. It... More

We just finished our meal there and were very dissatisfied. The waiter kept encouraging us to " buy up" and was not honest when my husband asked if the dessert was included with his meal. The prices on the prix fixe menu were confusing and made no sense. The tables are close together and the atmosphere was claustrophobic. The food... More

Best Bang for the buck fine dining/bistro style french food in San Francisco. It feels like comfort food done with flair and with high quality ingredients. Also great are Philippe the owner and his attention to detail and making guests feel at home. Reservations essential.

Six of us were delighted by a superb French dinner, unsurpassed by any other restaurant outside of Paris! The Early Bird dinner menu offered many choices. We chose the escargot...buttery, garlicky and oh sooo juicy. The bacon wrapped pork tenderloin, resting on a layer of orange sauce and decorated with orange segments was tender and soooo succulent! The piece de... More
