I came back here after several years (I regarded Tartine bakery as a good bread maker), but I was disappointed to see that the goods there are overpriced and the coffee (also unbelievably overpriced) tasted bitter and was burnt (I could not finish it). The croissant we ordered was tasty, but it was maybe a bit overbaked and pricey. Did... More

My husband read about Tartine and wanted to stop here - as a woman who loves bakeries too much, I was game. I hadn't heard anything about it, so no expectations...I didn't think it was much better than the average French bakery and was surprised to hear about its following. Too claustrophobic in here for me - and too much... More

We bought croissants and a scone and coffee to enjoy there and then ended up buying 4 more items to go! Everything was outstanding in this fairly small, crowded and fun place. Seemed constantly busy the entire time we were there... Stand in line. Awesome bakery.

Stopped in on a soggy, cold Wednesday afternoon at what we thought would be an off time (3ish). All the tables were full but the line was short. We stood at the window bar and enjoyed a coconut cream tart & a couple cappuccinos. The tart was delicious and the espresso was perfect. Really glad we stopped in, exceeded our... More

Tartine is an experience. Full disclosure, we went at 3:30 on a Wednesday and had no line at all. Even if there was a line knowing what I know now, I'd wait. My wife and I ordered a coconut cream tart, cappuccinos and some macaroons and wow. Just wow. Everything was so good. Even though we weren't starving we lacked... More

what they serve is delicious.. however, usually people wait in the long queue in order to buy the food. there is no guarantee to have seat and table.. too tiny place..

Decide in advance whether it's worth it to you to stand in a bakery line for 45 minutes. The upside – out-of-towers get to meet interesting locals. Everything we had was excellent--croissants, breakfast rolls, bread pudding, pain au jambon--but be prepared to bring it elsewhere as seating is skimpy. And yes, we went back twice, so it was worth it... More

Thoughtfully made desserts and breads made with fine ingredients. Quality is 5-star, and I particularly like that their desserts are not overly-sweet. My fav has to be the bread pudding; but, I would hate to leave out their lemon tarts which are every bit as good as my grandmothers' recipe.

I've been to France a few times and the friend who I visited Tartine with also often travels in France. The lines outside had us curious to step in and join the wait for a treat. We are not locals. The latte is served in bowls much like in a French village. The baked goods had an aroma which drew... More

Where to begin...the line was ominous but moved quickly. Magnificent pastries stocking the display cases. It's hard to know where to begin. On recommendation we started with the breakfast roll; a buttery, pastry roll with glazed sugar...so simple & so satisfying. The mushroom croque monsieur was fabulous and very shareable. Followed by the lemon meringue layer cake, chocolate & almond... More
