I travel to San Francisco a lot and have the pleasure of lunching in the FiDi where great options abound. Just found another gem in Brindisi. Authentic Southern Italian all the way from the attentive wait staff through the excellent menu full of many seafood delights. The pizzas are great as well, and the soup of the day....marvelous. There are numerous restaurants on this little stretch of alley, but we are very happy we chose this one. After visiting Italy, I've sadly (?) become a bit of a snob with regard to Italian food, and this was excellent. Great bruschetta, wonderfully thin, flavorful crust on a minimalist pizza, simple but excellent service. I admit, the rowing class in... More

At the end of a row of eateries in the small, and easily overlooked, side street of Belden Place, we had an excellent seafood meal in this well managed authentic Italian restaurant. The service was attentive but unobtrusive, the staff knowledgeable and the food superbly cooked. It is not the cheapest place to eat in town but it was worth... More

The quality of the food and the service were excellent. The prices were reasonable and it was clean cozy place. But I did not care for the a la carte type menu. I thought that some fresh vegetables added to the plate would have made a big difference. Limited pasta dishes, good selection of fish dishes. The four of us... More

We have always enjoyed this local Italian restaurant but on our most recent visit it has lost some appeal. The food selections do not seem to be as varied and the neighborhood does not seem as charming. Something is different and I would not recommend this as highly as I have in recent years. Risoto was not as good as... More

We had dinner here with our adult children after Christmas shopping. It was one of the few restaurants we could get into with a last minute reservation. That should have been my clue. The menu selection is great, and the food is not bad. That being said, the food isn't real good either. The wine? Ummm. They need some help... More

I really enjoyed my evening at Brindisi. First off when I checked out the restaurant the day before the bartender was very accommodating and really engaging. As such, I decided I would dine there the next day. As a guy from Boston the opportunity to eat outside in mid November couldn't be passed up. Temp was about 60 and there... More

I enjoy the experience of Belden place and have eaten as several restaurants. Its a quaint little alley way/street with many choices. The service at Brindisi was fine, very pleasant, warm people. The food was just average. I had the pasta with prawns, which I was told is one of the most popular dishes. Is this something waiters are trained... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighbourhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
