Great place to try new things! The food was very good. Yank Sing has over 100 varieties of deem sum that they bring to your table and you get to pick from a cart. The best trick to get in quickly is to make a reservation online. They do quite a bit of business so it was nice to have... More

This place was very good. . .But it seemed like they were rushing us. The carts were coming fast and furiously. We feel like we ate in 15 minutes. The Dim Sum was excellent and the service was good. Please slow down and enjoy it. Ask the cart-pushers to stop back in 5 minutes.

The dimsum was good, but not great (as compared to other bay area places.) It was very expensive, about 50% more than places with comparable food. The location is pretty and it is in downtown San Francisco, so depending on the circumstances it might be worth it.

One of the best dim sum restaurant in this country. It is expensive when compare to other dim sum place, but it is worth the price. The menu is quite extensive. Other than dim sum, they also have some dishes bring around in dim sum carts and trays.

I think a fair rating of Yank Sing would be that it is definitely at the top of the second class of dim sum restaurants. I have lived in Hong Kong and been eating dim sum since 1978 so I have some idea of what first class dim sum is like; and this is not it. The Shanghai dumplings (xiao... More

After a very poor experience at the Great Eastern yesterday, we thought we'd try Yank Sing for an early lunch before heading to the airport today. Thank god we did, otherwise we would have left SF thinking the Chinese food was poor! The dim sum was excellent, all brought around on carts. From the BBQ pork to a host of... More

Far and away the best Dim Sum I have enjoyed for some time. Be Warned, there must be 20 carts with various different dishes going by and they really don't make ordering off the menu all that viable. That said, if you like what they are serving on the carts the food is great. We were served 3 different items... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
