We waited about 35-40 minutes to get into the restaurant and once you get in, you wait in another line to order and pay for your food. While we were waiting, we stopped over at the Liguria Bakery for some focaccia bread.....AMAZING! Anyway, the food...More

But if there's a big queue I really don't think it is worth waiting for. Queue looked fairly small but ended up taking an hour to get seated which is a lot of time when there's so much to see in this city. If you...More

We had a two hour wait outside to get into this cafe due to its size and popularity. We were recommended to this cafe before we visited and so we thought we would wait it out to try the food. The system is once you...More

Dear CRW, I want to apologize for the poor experience you had at our families restaurant, Mama's on Washington Square. The lines are a byproduct of the effort our Mom and Dad put into the small restaurant; our parents opened for business at this location...More

I had the best Huevos Racheros in my life here. The line to be seated was well worth the wait. The food was spectacular, service was good, drinks came quickly. The highlight is definitely their menu.

Went here on a weekday and ended up waiting about 25 min to get in. Once in you stand in another line to order your food, pay and then get a table to sit at. It is not what I was expecting as the waiting...More

Best breakfast we ever had away from home! Tried five dishes, and all were simply deliscious! Didnt even have to wait for a table for five. Lucky us, I suppose.

The French toast sampler and Washington square omelette were delicious! We were there about 3hrs total. One hour wait. We got there at 8:10AM. Come at 7:30am to hopefully avoid a line.

I am generally not a big fan of getting up early when on vacation just to stand in line for breakfast - but this family-run small restaurant is so worth it! They open at 8am - but the queue starts much earlier. Once you get...More

North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds
of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian
ristorante come together to create the charming
neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping
grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of
North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always
suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in
the city exude as much European charm and style.

It is available all day, so you can have it for breakfast-before 11am. Even though it is listed under sandwiches from 11am- it says next to the Monte Cristo "available all day". Enjoy!

The longest wait was 45 minutes. Typical wait is 20-25. I haven't seen anyone order from the line. Once you are in, ordering, seating and food service is very efficient!

Established in 1951.
The family of Mama and Papa Sanchez, serves up traditional and innovative breakfast dishes in "Little Italy", the famous North Beach District in San Francisco. Across the street from the beautiful Washington Square Park, Mama's legions of fans line up early and throughout the day. We use the freshest of local products, imported Italian meats to fill our fluffy omelettes, homemade jam, fresh baked breads, pastries and other delectable dishes. We invite you to try our little restaurant and become part of the Mama's Family.
