My brother and I went here to watch the morning football games last Sunday. It was a rainy day, so the place wasn't too crowded. We had a delightful Irish lass serving us, she was very patient, and helpful. We had the pork schnitzel, and a smoked bratwurst plate. Both delicious. The schnitzel was lightly fried, and very tasty without... More

We went to Steins to watch some college football. Was within walking distance of our location and it was an unusually nice afternoon. Ordered both beer and wine, fried calamari and mozzarella sticks. The beer comes in 2 sizes, one of the mugs was huge! Food was good, service was good(Our server was very funny), the picnic bench seating a... More

On a recent visit to San Fran, hubby wanted a restaurant that served beer that was within walking distance to our motel. In a neighborhood that is mostly oriental restaurants, Steins was a gem for us. He had sausage and I had fish/chips. The food was excellent and he enjoyed his beer. The service was a little slow due to... More

If you are in the mood for a good sauerkraut, you're in for a treat. I am not sure about their other dishes but this is as German as it gets.

I sure hope this is a great place for watching sports and drinking because the goulash was an abomination. I was thinking of trying other food here but after tasting the goulash I will never willingly go here again even if somebody else pays. It was $14 when the amount of food was more like $7 and when you consider... More

We came here for dinner as my brother wanted to try this place out. They have a nice bar and some tables that resemble a beer hall but also regular tables as well. We ordered goulash, fried calamari as starters. for main courses, we ordered the bratwurst, wienersnitchel, a hot link, and the special of the day, roast chicken. The... More

We happened upon this resturant by chance. We were hungry and staying in the inner Richmond area and this happened to have a open table. Boy, am I glad it did. Lets start with the service, we were greeted right away with a smile. The waitress was extremely knowledgable about the menu and offered suggestions. She also offered suggestions on... More

Enjoyed my first visit to Steins, a family run, "Germanish" restaurant/sports bar. Was given friendly service by the small family that owns/runs the restaurant. They have some very good beers on tap, the hard to find Czech Staropramen and the German Spaten Optimator among the best. Salad was good. Tried the Hungarian Goulash (beef stew/soup),not bad, not fantastic. I prefer... More

Very good menu with a nice selection of German beers. Prices are reasonable - service is good - the restaurant was too warm. We will go back.

San Francisco has so much to offer, and Steins, 731 Clement Street is a great new establishment, especially if you want a beer, wine and some great german food. It's new and clean. Very impressive family owned business, with the family members working in the restaurant, and bar. They not only offer german food, but fish of the day, salads,... More
