Happy hour was great at Boxing room, they offers half price for selected oyster & sparkling wine. Good to try the hush puppies but too much flour. Nice restaurant deco & oyster bar counter.

Tried this restaurant before show at the Civic Center. Bustling atmosphere, slow service, had to wave people down for water refills. Limited menu, decent wine/beer selection. Shared a small gumbo for starters, good not great. My catfish po'boy had a generous portion of catfish but...More

I am a sazerac lover. We stumbled on the Boxing Room quite by accident. It is a great bar that includes a seafood bar as well. Very competent bartenders, and very friendly. We got there a bit ahead of the after-work rush, so we were...More

The food was pretty good, the atmosphere was pretty good, not too loud, not too crowded. It seems like it's a popular place before shows as it was quite packed when I initially passed by, but once 7:30 came around, it emptied out. I'd recommend...More

A good place prior to a show, or for happy hour, the food and service are pretty good. Portions large enough to share - the gumbo for example comes in 2 sizes and even the small portion for $10 will be sharable for 2 (and...More

We eat out a lot, we get tired of the usual fare, and we love New Orleans food and go there every chance we get, so the Boxing Room was a great choice on a recent Friday night. The room could be described as industrial...More

We went in there just for HH beers but started to browse the menu. The menu is small and wasn't tempting at the first glimpse. But everything we had snacking our way through was delicious. Service was friendly and attentive. There were complimentary homemade pitachips...More

Had the Pimms Cup, which is a speciality here. Excellent. Gin and Tonic and Lemon Drops were also good. A complimentary flatbread and pimento cheese thing was tasty. Hushpuppies were good. Fried chicken ($26) was great and a generous serving with delicious mashed potatoes and...More

Sought out this place as we looked for different types of food to experience in SF. Figured there would be nothing quite like New Orleans style food in San Francisco. It is a lively neighborhood joint in Hayes Valley with a lot of neighborhood patrons...More

Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky
shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to
imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of
a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation
of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a
community park at its center and dozens of trendy
businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish
respite.
