The restaurant was reccommended by Happy Cow and also through a friend. During a week's state in SF I ate here twice and loved the food. Great restaurant, great service and if you are vegetarian/vegan you would love it. Highly reccommended.

As a vegan, this place was on my list on a visit to San Francisco. The restaurant is quaint. There is communal seating inside and some private picnic tables outdoors. We sat outside on a cool night but the heaters kept it comfortable. The antojitos are the best things ever. We had the cauliflower dish and the brussels sprouts -... More

At first we were suspicious about the urban look of this mexican compared to the standard genuine/like look of most family owned, good mexican retaurants. Well, after a couple of apetizers we started changig our mind. Food is good. Yes, do expect something less greasy, a bit more 'educated' than the standard mexican food. But good. Well prepared. Healty stuff.

This place was recommended by a colleague and the combination of mexican / vegan sounded just too tempting! The dishes were incredible, very fresh and tasty. I am surprised about the creativity of the chef to come up with all this vegan options of Mexican dishes. Came with a group of colleagues (all meat-eaters) and they absolutely loved this place... Took our vegan daughter here for her birthday. It was a wonderful choice. Staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. The food was fantastic (I'm not vegan), locally sourced, vegan and organic. Even if you are not a fan of Mexican or Vegan food this is still a must to dine at. It redefined both genres beautifully. A great... More

The food is SO delicious and I would have rated full 5 stars except for the price. I don't mind pricey food but the atmosphere of the place is more casual than the prices and therefore unexpected. Pros: - It's vegan! Yay! - All the food is delicious - well flavored and super yummy, from the salsa on the table... More

I'm in SF on occasion, and on my way back to the BART station, I wanted to have an organic, vegan lunch. Searching for a suitable restaurant nearby, I found Gracias Madre. I walked in at around 2 pm on a Tuesday and found the place still busy. A friendly staff member greeted me and i was seated at one... More

The food was delicious and they make great unusual cocktails such as the green margarita which is a combination of a healthy green juice and a margarita. Quite a pricey restaurant but the food is all organic, fresh and prepared really well so it is definitelly worth it.

Legend has it, the writer of 'When Harry met Sally' got his idea for the iconic restaurant scene while visiting Gracias Madre and experiencing the delightful effect the food was having on some of the diners he was sat near. I joke, of course, but, the food here is absolutely incredible and it was as good, if not better, than... More

Stopped for late lunch and please notw that the dining is communal, so the busier the time, the more likely you will share a table. There is bar seating and heated patio seating that is communal as well. All food we ordered and observed was beautifully prepared. We had the persimmon salad, which was dressed with lovely dressing and beautiful... More
