This is a nice place for a business or special occasion meal. The menu has a variety of items that might fall under the general category of 'modern American'. I had a crab polenta appetizer which was delicious, perfectly seasoned. My main was baked ricotta cheese and vegetables. Beautiful presentation and everything was prepared and seasoned perfectly. Staff were helpful... More

Prospect, sister to Boulevard, has an ambience that is well-suited for the business lunch crowd, rather than a romantic dinner, as the decor is rather minimalist with a muted monochromatic palette, high-ceilings, and linear setting of the rows of tables flocking the perimeter and small booths in the middle of the large room. Nice feature of a pseudo-private dining area... More

I was taken here by some business associates in a weeknight and the place was hopping. The wine list is vast. We decided that we wanted an Oregon pinot noir (because one of our party was an Oregon native) and that only narrowed it down to six wines. The started with the Dungeness crab and lobster risotto negro appetizers. We... More

We were three in a booth for an early, post work dinner. Good food, good wine, even better conversation. The restaurant is big, with dinner service starting at 5:30 (ish.) it's a nice, modern space with high ceilings and architectural detail. The room is lively enough that you won't feel like you'll be overheard too much and quiet enough that... More

The place is beautiful, warm and inviting and it was a lovely walk to and from our hotel in Union Square. We consider ourselves foodies - have eaten at a number of high end restauarants in California. As is often the case at higher end restaurants I would say you have to like food that is a little different from... More

Very pleased with the food and service here. Everything on the menu looked good. Started off with the signature "Prospect" cocktail (excellent!). Then we shared the Kale Caesar Salad, followed by the Berkshire Pork Chop and Braised Hen Ravioli (dinner portion). The pork was especially juicy and delicious! Prices were reasonable and the portions were ample. Service was excellent!

Went with 2 families with children 8-14. The food was great. Service was good (had to request more bread three times, but very good otherwise). Would recommend.

A friend and I enjoyed dinner there. The restaurant is designed with several smaller dining areas, so a large number of patrons can dine without feeling like a crowd. I appreciated that we could speak without shouting, a rarity in urban restaurants. The design is clean, modern and warm. Service is excellent. My salmon was superb, and the beans alone... More

We met for a business dinner in downtown SF. The Prospect is close to the bay and the Bay Bridge. There were not enough parking lots so we chose the Valet parking option. The restaurant was very full for a Wednesday, with guests sitting at the bar waiting to be seated. The rooms are very elegant, with high ceilings and... More

We had Dinner for two here. Reception was friendly and efficient. The choice of food is rather limited. The food was good (NY strip steak) to very good (hen ravioli) and came with no delay. Although they run a bar as well, their choices of beer were very limited. Prices are pretty high, but that's SF.

Thank A W

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
