Went there because it's right across from where we were staying. Let's start with the food: the agedashi tofu was pretty blend, the sushi was insignificant, and the oysters were not extremely fresh. Next, service was a big problem. The restaurant was full, and there were only 3 waitresses, so they were over-extended. We asked for plates, and that took... More

Maru was a second sushi place I visited during recent trip to San Francisco. It was next to the hotel were we stayed so convenient stop. It's also open a whole day, and we wanted to eat around 4 pm. Service was very friendly and accommodating. Fish selection was reasonable. We had over 10 different sushi, sashimi and one roll.... More

Over all good experience with quality and fresh food. Service was friendly and atmosphere enjoyable. Sushi tools were a bit in the small side and I felt a bit hungry when I left.

Not much to say, over and above the title. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The friendly service was backed up by the very tasty food. Very unpretentious just good food in comfortable surroundings.

The food rates highly and the choices are all very tempting. The wait staff can get a bit distracted once they have served you. I am not sure if cream cheese is all that suitable for sushi but the other items I had were very good. It would be good to explain the serving size of the meals as my... More

Our selection included miso soup, salad, rice & main course. The only disappointment was the charge for green tea.

We had been on a tour and after a 12 hour day a hot sake, good sashimi and miso together with a lovely chargrilled teriyaki beef one was very happy. Not the most elegant of restaurants but makes up for it with good fresh Japanese. Do try the oysters delicious!

My family are sushi experts. This place was pretty good. It's not an elegant place, but it does have a nice cultural aura.

While I had a standard combo dinner of sashimi and chicken teriyaki, the special board showed a wide variety of sushi include Monk Fish Liver, Uni and some others you don't see very often.
