I decided to have a guy's night out with some friends here last month. We showed up, and were greeted nicely at the door. Two of us were quite early, so we had a couple of rounds at the bar while waiting on the rest of the party to show up. The scotch/whiskey/bourbon choices there were fairly limited and a... More

This place specializes in high end steaks from overseas. Think $250 per steak. I had planned to order the 8oz Fillet - American, but was talked in the T-bone aged 21 days. It is enormous! However, it was tough and did not have much flavor. The side mashed potatoes we're over whipped but we're tasty due to the extras included.... More

Probably the best filets mignon I ever ate. The entrance of the restaurant appears a bit shabby. I had no reservation so I was seated in the bar or lounge area. No problem for me. Unfortunately it was cold outside and each time the door was opened it became really chilly. Food was excellent. Service was good during ordering but... More

Met a friend from out of town and had dinner at 5A5. Delicious steaks, pleasant atmosphere, conviennent downtown location. A bit pricey for just everyday dinning as our bill for 4 people was over $1,000 (that included wine).

...expensive but one of the best steaks in a long time. Cosy place with a chick Asian-inspired decor (and a selection of wacko-priced waku to go with it). The entire table opted for the 23 oz aged t-bone. Great piece of beef - cooked to perfection. Sides included asparagus (with quail egg) fries with truffle and garnered spinach - all... More

We booked a month in advance for New Year's Eve. They had a prix fix menu for $135 per person for 4 courses, with 4 options for each course (2 for dessert). I started with sashimi which was very good and quite a decent sized serving. However the star dish was the Singapore-style lobster tail that BF got - it... More

We ordered the A5 NY and Ribeye. Both were very good, and I surly among the best steaks I ever had if not the best. The side dishes of spinach and mushrooms were also good with a unique way of making it. It is an expensive experience, so good for special occasions. Would definitely go there again if I can.

The service started off a little rough, but then got better (or that could have been because of the drinks we had). The food was good, but pricey although we knew that going into it.

This was a corporate dinner and the selection and food was excellent. Several ordered the Kobe steak which was fantastic and worth the additional cost Leave room for deserts which right size with intense flavor a and great way to finish

I had the scallops, filet, and strawberry shortcake. Everything was very nice. But it was difficult to have a work conversation with the high noise level.

Staying in Financial District

Neighbourhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
