We ate here our first night in Bar Harbor and it was great! I loved the drink specials. They also have Happy Hour at various times. I tried the traditional fish and chips which was great. Place was clean. Staff was friendly. It does get crowded and we had a short wait. Well worth it! Decent prices too .

Our hotel recommended this restaurant when we asked about good, reasonably-priced burgers. It did not disappoint! The staff was friendly and attentive, and the burgers were great! It was my favorite meal in Bar Harbor because it was good and didn't break the bank.

Bar Harbor was a food desert when we went, which was just before the summer season so a lot of places were closed. The Thirsty Whale was humming with lots of locals and a terrific selection of regional beers on tap. My husband had the fish and chips and they were very good. "The batter was not overwhelming" he said,... More

We were craving a good burger and found this place. We all ordered the Pub Burger and it did not disappoint! Cooked to perfection and the appetizers of Tater skins and mozerella sticks filled us all up!

Our first stop in Bar Harbor was the Thirsty Whale , a very inviting bar/eatery. We went there twice it was so good and the people were great. We ate off the appetizer list .. fried clams FRESH and tasty, the second time , the fishermen's combo, both generous dishes that we split and reasonably priced. Fun place!!

When the tourist have gone 'away' - and Bar Harbor has almost 'closed for the season' - or on a Winter's Day when you just feel like a good beer & burger... this is the place!

What a perfect review. After a long tourist season, we can not wait for the quieter "local time". Then after a looong winter, we can not wait for the town to pick up again! See you in January! Heather Sorokin More

We went there for a quick lunch. We were sat right away. The wait staff was nice and attentive. The garlic bread with cheese app was very good. The chicken fingers were better than expected and the chicken with walnuts and cranberry wrap was very good.

Never had a bad meal at the Whale. It's where the locals hang out. I had a chicken wrap. It was huge and tasty. If you want to be sure you're going to get a great meal, go to the Whale.

Can't wait to get back there! Always get the Fish & Chips! They know how to do it right. If you have to wait for a seat....just know it is because the food is good and reasonably priced and that is why everyone goes there!
