The beef hamburgers are worth the long and twisty scenic drive (lots of curves, so take your time and pay attention to the road, especially if it's raining). I even overhead a family from Australia comment on how good the burgers were, and they're from a country that knows its beef (I didn't try the elk or lamb) The burgers... More

Ulupalakua is a long drive from the hotel/resort areas, but if you find yourself in the area at or around lunchtime, it's worth it to stay for the lanai bbq and more specifically for the elk or lamb burgers. The ranch keeps herds of both on multi-acre paddocks just upslope from the store, so this epitomizes farm to table dining.... More

We had hamburgers. Prices were reasonable for Maui. The hamburgers were cooked to order and were awesome. Even the bun was above average! They are made from pineapple fed beef! It's across the street form a winery that makes pineapple wine. The cattle get the crushed pineapple. I had sautéed onions on mine. A couple of choices of cheese too.

This place offers choices -- not just your normal burger place. They have lamb, elk and venison along with their beef burger. All are raised/caught on the property. Each is grilled outside and comes with onions (raw or grilled), lettuce, pickles and tomato. When you pick yours up you can dress them as you like (mustard, ketchup, mayo and relish).... More

Time your visit to Maui Wine to allow for lunch here. The menu is limited, but the Maui Cattle burgers are delicious and affordable. There are a good variety of extras for your burger. The outdoor picnic area has scenic views of the islands and ocean. Worth a visit!

This restaurant is definitely off the beaten path but oh so worth the drive. Their food is amazing. The burgers are tasty and juicy. The store is full of Hawaii cowboy stuff. The people here are friendly and down to earth.

Recommended we stop in from the guy at the Harley rental store. We both had burgers, lamb and beef. We were not disappointed, very good. Local Organic lamb, beef and elk. Homemade BBQ sauce and hot sauce. Cool store for souvenirs and a winery across the street. No washroom, had to go across the street to the winery, small hike.

We stopped here because our friends had had the elk burgers and liked them so much that they wanted to have them again. The day they were there they had kalbi ribs on special and they were exceptional! Possibly my favorite meal of the trip and very reasonably priced. If they have the kalbi ribs, you can't go wrong! There's... More

Tired and hungry after a long hike and a second day of driving the road to Hana (and beyond), we were so lucky to come across this place and decide to stop. This is the place to eat if you're anywhere in the area. The burgers are incredible. The service was absolutely outstanding. Your view is the Pacific Ocean. The... More

Description
When you come on up to visit us at Ulupalakua, you'll find it's not just about the drive. These days, it's about the food. "We're becoming a food destination," says Will Munder, Executive Chef of Ulupalakua Ranch Store & Grill. Mosey up to the counter, and you'll still find all the classic Ranch favorites, but the good stuff just got better. Now everything is made from scratch and as local as we can get it. The Ulupalakua lamb, beef and famous elk are part of our commitment to serve only meat from the Ranch or from Maui. And thanks to Upcountry's abundance. The bustling Grill gets crates of fresh local lettuce, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, pineapple, herbs and more, every morning.

Reminders of times gone by are everywhere inside the Ulupalakua Store, from the sepia-toned photos on the walls to the cowboy hats on the shelves. The Store is a happy place of simple things, good things. Our motto here at Ulupalakua Ranch is: "Happy People." Plain and simple.
