The place is nothing to look at. A few tables and a big fish tank that needs cleaned. But the food is worth it. Everything was excellent. Highly recommend the chicken Adobo. Service was slow. Prices were very reasonable.

I'm thinking the Wialua Family Resturant closed some time ago, there were across from Shell station just past bridge, right? I believe they were best known for breakfasts. The origial building you are refering to I think is now a Brick Oven Pizza (think the building was originally a pizza hut, 20+ years ago). I do not think the Kauai Family Cafe is the same family that owned previous Wialua Family Resturant. I think it is mere coincidence that they are nearby?? I base my opinion on the difference in menus and who the cater too. The current owners have a strong following for Filipino food, I do not recall the Wialua Family Resturant having such a Filipino flare?? When I visited Kauai Family Cafe, I noticed many locals eating here and getting food to go. Before when it was Wialua Family Resturant I thought it catered mainly to tourists?? Also, the family members I met were 2 sisters, both younger than me. If the former Wialua Family Resturant was the same family for ownership, it was likely parents or even grandparents who owned it. Even as I say this, I know Kauai is a small enough Island that the likelihood is high that they could somehow be related to one another. Its just the Menu for new Cafe seems much more local with emphasis on homegrown and much different than previous. Best of Luck... I'm just taking my best guess and trying to help you out, no authority on matter.
