Delicious noodles in a relaxed outdoor atmosphere. The dishes with the bone broth were amazing. The grilled ono over rice with miso glaze we also tasty. Hard to get a table here - reservations are required. Only hiccup was that the people who had our...table before us would not pay the bill and leave and instead of giving us another table we had to wait until they left to be seated.More

Everything was wonderful except food. If you are a ramen connoisseur, I don't recommend this place at all. My son loves ramen, so I took him there. Because the rating of the restaurant was so high that we were very excited to try Hawaiian ramen....We got there before 6pm without a reservation and it was already crowded. But the front staff squeezed us in with time limit of one hour. Ambience was excellent! The view was amazing! Staff were nice and accommodating. Unfortunately, the food was not good in our opinion. We have quite a few good ramen restaurants back in our area. Ama's ramen broth was flavorless and almost tasteless. Their noodle didn't match well with their broth style. I ordered Dan Dan Mazemen and it was missing something important so tasted bland and boring. We ordered Bao Buns because many people said it's a must item. It could have been good if the sauce was not that strong. I think their cha siu flavor is so weak that they have to use strong sauce to conceal it. I assume they use the same cha siu for their cha siu ramen which my son ordered. He described it as the most tasteless cha siu ever. We ordered the homemade doughnuts as well. We liked the ice cream part, but doughnuts were mediocre. Over-fried and crunchy.More

This place is a must. The food is delicious!! I got the baos and chicken fried rice dish w/the egg, chicken, etc. It was literally amazing. The view is out of this world too. The super friendly staff made it absolutely 5 stars.

We have eaten here twice recently, once on a very busy evening and once on a slow evening. Both times the service and the food were excellent -- easy-going and good. We enjoyed (too) many drinks; the Hanalei Sour was a stand-out for us. The...wild shrimp skewer is the best shrimp skewer we have had anywhere and the Bao Buns were a perfect blend of meat, veggies, sauce, and bun. The green curry was also one of our favorites, but over the two nights we had almost everything on the menu and we would happily enjoy any of the items again.More

Spending 5 days in Kauai seeing the sites, dining and shopping. We were staying in Lihue, while some friends of ours were staying up north near Hanalei. WE came up to spend the day with them and let them pick the restaurant for the night.... Our friends daughter is a connoisseur of dining and likes to try different cuisines. The location, terrific views and ambiance of the restaurant were great. We were able to get a table before the crowds arrived and quickly ordered some wine and appetizers to start. Kind of relied on our friends daughter to make some suggestions and help explain some of the ingredients. Service was excellent and even though the restaurant was getting crowded, we never felt rushed . Most of my dining companions enjoyed their main meal. Both my buddy and my wife had a spicy dish, which they loved, and actually said that it was very spicy. I loved the appetizers and was ok with my main dish, but so glad I tried something differentMore

I love everything about this place. The view sitting at the mountain facing counter was epic! We shared some Brussel sprouts to start and then we each had ramen bowls. The green curry was a delicious vegetarian dish with enough noodles for me to have...for lunch the following day. My husband didn’t end up with any leftovers....More

I’ve never taken the time to write a restaurant review, but our dinner experience at Ama while visiting Kauai was so terrible I feel I should warn others. First of all, the setting and view are gorgeous. That’s what drew us to dine here in...the first place. Unfortunately, that is the only positive thing we can think to say about Ama. The food tasted...terrible. Simply TERRIBLE. Really, my husband & I both agreed it was some of the worst-tasting food we’ve ever been served in a restaurant. And my husband is definitely one of the least picky eaters I’ve ever met. Over-priced gross-tasting food is one thing, but I could tell literally before we made it to our car in the parking lot that my meal was not settling well in my stomach. I ended up spending a horrible night on the bathroom floor being violently ill with food poisoning from my meal at Ama. Had to cancel our NaPali Coast tour scheduled for the next day. Talk about a huge expense and waste of a precious vacation day in Kauai! I called Ama after our trip to notify them of what I’d eaten at their restaurant (I thought they should know) and to politely request a refund for my meal, as I’d kept the receipt. I spoke with a manager and was told the owner of Ama would be in touch with me. I gave my number, but I never heard a single word again from anyone at Ama. I’ve never had food poisoning from dining out before, and I’ve eaten at A LOT of restaurants. I’ve also never been served such bad-tasting food. The positive reviews on here leave my husband and I dumbfounded.More

We went to Ama one day for dinner on our recent trip to Kauai. Service was fast, excellent food and a beautiful view to top it all off.

While I am not a huge fan of Ramen noodles, I do love Japanese and other Asian cuisine. The ratings for this restaurant were so great, and my husband likes noodle bowls so we had to go. It was a rainy Monday night at about...630 and, while it was busy, we had no wait. I had heard about the fried chicken bao so I had to try it. It was like two mini “tacos” with bao bread as the base and fried chicken with Asian seasonings and vegetables. It was a delicious appetizer. My husband got the fried chicken Ramen noodles and I got the spicy pork belly Ramen noodles for dinner. They offered a plate of four condiments which were a really nice addition. They included spicy mustard, red chili paste, a sweet sesame syrup and a soy sauce. The setting requires it’s own review. It is set in a horseshoe of a building with a lovely open concept overlooking the mountains and waterfalls. It was raining when we were there but the glass ceiling protected us from the rain and it was still a lovely view. The broth of those little girls was absolutely amazing and I want the recipe! Ama if you’re reading this please send me the recipe!. As a foodie traveler I definitely recommend this 100%.More

This restaurant has it all. The moment I stumbled on it I wanted to eat here for the view alone. It is a very pretty place. In the distance were three waterfalls and the diningroom is an open porch with comfortable seating and this terrific...view. Our waitress, Brianna, took our order. She was friendly and helpful and made us feel that we had chosen the right place for dinner. We had spent several days looking for food that wasn’t fried bar food. Our food came promptly and was really delicious. We have never eaten in a ramen restaurant before (we remember ramen noodles from college) and this was our first. From our experience here it won’t be our last.More

I do not know. Most restaurants will allow you to, but charge a hefty corkage fee. Best to check directly with the restaurant.
