There's not much that can beat watching the volcano glow while eating a first-class dinner with great service. I was tired from hiking and just had the tomato soup & grilled cheese - I'm sure it's on the menu for the keiki, but it hit the spot for me. The grilled cheese had Hamakua mushrooms inside & the soup was... More

We had a super nice waitress so that definitely helped the experience. Breakfast buffet is $15 if you are staying in the hotel and that is pretty reasonable. Beautiful view first thing in the morning.

This is an upscale restaurant located within the Volcano House. It attracts a lot of patrons outside the hotel guests. During peak seasons, it is difficult to get reservation. If you can, call them to reserve a window seat early. Even if you do not get a window seat, you can view the crater from some seats. They have a... More

Ok the food was good but not extraordinaire at the Rim. The night we dined we were fogged in and couldn't see a thing. The online menu is not up to date and meals seem a bit more expensive than what you see online. The best part of our meal was the singer they had playing Christmas carols during our... More

Loved the food and cocktails here, but the best part was the fantastic view of the glowing lava at night. Cute gift shop in the hotel too.

The food is secondary, although it is a greasy and varied (although a little limited) menu. Not too large, not too noisy. The night we were there had an excellent singer/guitarist.

The food is delicious and the service was good. If the weather co-operates, you get a great view of the Kīlauea caldera, so if you're planning on eating dinner at The Rim, try and do it before sunset. Be warned though, this isn't a cheap restaurant. The Rim is located inside the Volcano House hotel, just across from the Kīlauea... More

It's 13.5 miles of twisting and winding road, but all fun and great scenery. Highly recommended. You don't need a 4-wheel drive vehicle for the scenic road.

Loved a lot of the menu options in theory and everything (ono and machong) tasted good, but it wasn't above average and the food alone wasn't a great value. We really paid for an awesome view of the volcano and decent food. That said, we ate a lot of places in volcano and this was the best. One of the... More

Worth hiking the trails from visitor centre and Jaeger museum, steam vents access, lava views. Neat trails but be out before darkness
