We lived on the Big Island for a while & have tried many Thai restaurants...but Sombat's was the best! We were always treated so kind & the food was out of this world! My husband loved the hot sauce & the pineapple fried rice. We each had our favorites...too many to name! We loved the fact that Sombat grows her... More

Super-friendly, helpful & prompt service, and maybe the best Thai meal we've ever had (and we've had a bunch)! Everything we tried was delicious & fresh, even the garnishes.

Sombats is in a industrial complex. Looks uninviting but worth a visit. Had a great dinner here and really enjoyed the food. They offer their meal with 3 levels of spice so they tailor to the tastes of the customers. The serving staff provide advice on the bar levels when ordering. We had a massaman and. A green curry and... More

Food was better than other Thai across town, but pricey. I would go back but I've had better. Shrimp fresh roots good, coconut soup really nice. Red curry mediocre.

Don't be deceived by the looks of the building they are in. This is a real gem. The interior is warm and welcoming and the staff is super friendly. I had the pineapple fried rice and it was great. I highly recommend this restaurant. It has many gluten-free options also.

I agree with the last few reviews stating they could eat here everyday and being my favorite restaurant in Hilo. The food here is consistently excellent and the service is thoughtful and fast. As a vegetarian and vegan we really appreciate them accomadating our special requests. They are very knowledgeable on the ingredients in their dishes and advising on that... More

20 former RPCPs (Returned Peace Corps Volunteers) visiting our former training site in nearby Hilo dined here. We all lived in Thailand 2-5 years or more and all found the food authentic and delicious.

We visit Hawaii every two years and we always try to go to Sambat's. The food is fresh, locally grown, and delicious, and we have our choice of how spicy it will be. Favorites are the Kang Massaman (curry with peanuts and potatoes), somtum (salad with lime and papaya), chicken satay, pra-ram-long-song (mixed vegetables with peanut sauce to which we... More

I had the pineapple curry with pork and Thai iced tea about a week ago and today I had the number 16 (forget the name) with beef. Medium spiciness is the right amount for me, and I'm not shy about heat. The price is not bad for the amount of food and the taste definitely makes it even better. I... More
