Based on the recommendation of a local friend, we visited Super J's near mile marker 106. A small family run business that made you feel like home. The Lau Lau was superb! A complete classic Hawaiian menu is served. Their Mac salad could be classed...More

Very small hole in the wall on 11. You are not sure if they are open when you pull in, but they are! We had the pork laulau and the chicken laulau. Both were very good, as well as the salmon lomi. I would not...More

We just stopped in to buy two mini laulau plates and ate them immediately in our car in the parking lot. The laulau is delicious, simple but seasoned so perfectly. One of the cheapest and best lunches we had on the Big Island!

We saw an episode of Andrew Zimmern on the Big Island and made a note to visit Super J on the drive down to the black sand beach. It's a tiny little place but the owner was super friendly and the lau lau were out...More

You'd be doing yourself a disservice to pass up Super J's for a meal. The fam will welcome you with open arms and make you feel right at home. They suggested the combo meal for us and we asked "what's that?" They lovingly said "trust...More

Nice family run business. Great Hawaiian plate lunches and takeout. Lau lau's are delicious as well the pateles. Service is prompt and courteous. Ambiance is a bit rustic - so takeout is a good option.

We were excited to try authentic Hawaiian plate lunches here - and the lau lau was delicious. If you don't want to hang out in the restaurant (they have a couple of tables), consider taking it to go and head toward a beach!

This tiny place appears to be a mom and her daughter. They cook like they were at home. So they do run out of food frequently. A relatively small menu is on offer here. But the food is really good. Probably the best lau lau...More

Just stopped in for lunch at Ka'aloa's Super J's and it was awesome. We first visited here two years ago. Service is super friendly and the food is excellent. Choices are chicken or pork laulau, a traditional Hawaiian dish wrapped in taro leaf. One of our...More

According to an internet search it looks like they open up at 10 a.m. The costs for food is about $5-$8 (very reasonable for a plate of food). This is not a fancy place whatsoever. Imagine eating at someone's house with... More
