Kitchen was remodeling so food was brought in by our group. They do support charitable efforts, big plus for that. Plenty of room to roam about and the sometimes have live entertainment.
Usually mostly empty. But, that means great service. Bartender plays youtube videos. Good place to go when you want to get cozy with someone. Will still visit here on occasion.
The food is the big draw and attraction, along with warm, friendly service that is genuine. Very attentive service on all levels. Persian food that is perfect to the eye and the taste buds. A rare dining experience for a small city in the mid-west. A real treat, to be able to enjoy all the unique flavors! The only reason... More
In the last couple of years, George's Tavern has turned into George's Persian Restaurant, thanks to the owner's new Persian wife. The buffet banquet is held several times a year and features great middle-eastern foods including a lot of vegetable dishes. If you go to the late seating, there is also a belly-dancer!
We selected George's based on TA reviews, and are glad we did. We were fortunate to be in Racine on a Thursday, the one day per week when George's offers a lunch buffet. The building is old and the neighborhood not impressive, but the food served within was wonderful! Having lived in the Chicago area most of my life and... More
Was looking forward to George's for quite sometime after a friend of mine had raved about what an absolute taste treat the place was. Imagine Persian food made authentically in Racine Wisconsin. The food as a gastronomical delight. We all had a something different, I had the beef, my friends had the Chicken, and the Lamb and a great mix... More
George's is a great find. We should have come here sooner. We needed dinner one weeknight, and were attracted to the Middle-Eastern menu. Everything was delicious and freshly prepared, from stuffed grapeleaf appetizers and baba ganoush to the vegetarian or meat-based main courses. The spicings are delicious -- not shy, but not overpowering. The mains (usually) come with a tomato-cucumber... More
George's Tavern has become our regular spot in Racine. Having lived in the middle east I'm somewhat familiar with the cuisine but the difference here is the care & skill. The grilled chicken is wonderfully marinated and caramelized on the fire & seems to be always moist & tender. I've had hundreds of bowls of houmous but her's, which includes... More
We enjoyed a wonderful meal and great ambiance by Suzanne (the chef) at George's Tavern. In the past 12 yrs that we've been in Racine, we have seen different versons of George's from a loud bar with live music and dancing to it's current status as a comfortable Persian restaurant. We were not well versed on Persian food and our... More
