This is a wonderful place to have an interesting and delicious meal with friends in a pleasant, arty atmosphere.

Not your average restaurant, as it reflects a younger, more relaxed way of life. BUT, good food and good service. Food runs the entire spectrum: all fresh, locally grown if available, both meat and veggy entrees, gluten free available, comfort food and fancy food. Give...More

We enjoyed this farm to table restaurant in Charleston's funky and up and coming East End. Great grassfed burgers. Also had free range chicken. Able to serve our Paleo, gluten-free family. Bluegrass music at night. Large bar. We were there in late afternoon, so nearly...More

I've had mixed experiences at Bluegrass Kitchen, usually due to my hope for a specific dish that has been dropped from the rotating menu. This time I tried Hoppin John because I wanted vegetarian--great option. Other winners have been catfish and fried bologna.

The Bluegrass Kitchen was recommended to us for our visit to the area and it is a bit different than my usual stops. Sadly,we went for what they called "betwixt" lunch and dinner,so our choices were limited by their menu. I had a delicious meat...More

The food is excellent, and they offer a wide variety of local and craft beers. It's a bit pricy but you do get what you pay for. The atmosphere is also pretty cool with local art decorating an eclectic dining area.

Road tripping from KC to Virginia Beach and have eaten at many new Restaurants. By far Bluegrass Kitchen was the most pleasant surprise. Had the Sunday brunch and everything was delicious. My 9 and 11 year olds both emptied their plates. Shrimp and grits, and...More

Loved this place. Welcome reprieve from some of the other local bar food restaurants. Had a lovely white burgandy then the fried chicken! It was great. Wish we could have gone back to try other things. My husband had the Hoppin Jons...loved it

This is the place to eat in the capital of West Virginia. Eclectic atmosphere and phenomenal locally sourced food. I have had both shrimp and grits and trout and grits here - both are fantastic. The WV trout was perhaps the best fish I have...More

Service was a bit slow, but we got a seat right away and the food was excellent. I highly recommend the home cured, grass-fed corned beef hash stack.

Description
Charleston's authentic farm-to-table made-from-scratch modern comfort food restaurant. With a legion of chefs who caringly practice the art of food, BgK offers delicious brunch, dinner, and desserts for hungry vegetarians, meat connoisseurs, and everyone in-between. In the circa 1920 building with pressed tin ceilings and exposed architecture, Bluegrass also serves as a gallery for local artists. In the Tap room there's live original acoustic music most nights, with finely crafted cocktails, a curated wine list & a bounty of beers. Close to West Virginia's beautiful capitol grounds the family-owned and operated Bluegrass Kitchen has been featured in The New York Times and Wall Street Journal as well as Bon Appetit, Garden & Gun, Taste of the South magazines and many more.
