I found this place on TA and I'm glad I stopped in. The selection of pastries is vast and all reasonably priced. Everything was very fresh and flavorful. I especially liked the Devil Dogs.

An incredible true old fashion bakery, too much to choose from as it all looks and tastes amazing. The BEST clam chowder around. Service is friendly and prompt. Very clean

We enjoyed the soup and sandwiches. Price was just right. Cost was $20 for 2 of us to have lunch and dessert. And the pastries are divine. We'll definitely be going back while visiting Long Beach.

You will have difficulty choosing! Between the two of us, we managed to get down to three items (with difficulty!) - A German chocolate browny (to die for), and cherry turnover (sell your children), and an almond date rollup (I wish we brought some home).

We had a hard time picking out what we wanted because of so many choices. We were glad we made it there. It is really busy in the am.

Let's be honest, Americans are not known for having great bakeries when compared to Germans or French, but this place does a really great job, for Americans;) The selection seems to be more pastry and cakes, but my oh my you won't go in without coming out. You really wont be disapointed. I think their bread selection is quite good... More

I had a cream puff. It was enormous, but delicious. Piled high with whipped cream and filled with custard, the pastry satisfied my sweet tooth for a year.

Lots of variety and choices of baked goods including pies and cakes. Some of the pastries I had never heard of so points for uniqueness. I had no problem getting served but I was there in the afternoon on a week day in mid-September. I can see in peak summer where it could get busy. They also had coffee drinks... More

What I liked best at this bakery were the European style pastries and danishes. My favorite was the one they do with pecans, which is sweet, buttery and flaky. We sat inside and enjoyed a cup of coffee with our pastries. It was a very pleasant break from browsing all the shops there on the main street.
