Passed through here right after they opened several years ago. Reordered my favorite (Carne Asada plate), also Carne Asada Tacos, Caldo de Pollo and the daily special of chicken flautas. Having lived in Texas over 60 years, I promise you this is the real deal (including the hecho in mexico 1/2 liter glass bottle sprite) and television on Spanish channel.... More

Looking for a quick lunch, I did a quick Trip Advisor search and came up with El Jalapeño. Thanks once again, Trip Advisor!!! The carnitas are crispy and tasty, with the addition of fried onions in the mix! Yum! Also like the fried Serrano chile on the side....Spicy!!! Authentic, quick Latino food in Hoquiam! Who would have thought!!!!

The reviews brought us here. Not much from the outside nor inside but the food and value make this dining experience a winner. From the chips, salsa and enchiladas to service all two thumbs up. This is as close to authentic mexican food as I have found this side of the border. Me and the Mrs will be coming back... More

This little place is absolute perfection in authentic Mexican tacos. I have several favorite places around my hometown and this place topped them all! I choose pollo (chicken), pastor (pork), and barbacoa (bbq) tacos, while my byf went for the carnita tacos. The meat was fresh, flavorful, seasoned well, and juicy. There is amazing sauces to top them and the... More

Looking for dinner on our way home from a backpacking trip, we stopped at El Jalapeño. Tortillas made in-house rock and there are pickled veggies instead of chips. Great, authentic flavors. My wife, who grew up in California and lived for a time in Mexico, thought it was excellent. Never mind the lack of ambience. It's a basic, clean and... More

The mister and I stopped after a trip to Ocean Shores. It had good reviews, so thought we'd give it a try. We love all types of Mexican food. It was easy to find. The restaurant itself was clean, but very dumpy. It could really use a makeover or at least a bright new paint job. Anyway, the food was... More

This place is really a gem. What a surprise to find very good Mexican food in this small Hoquiam restaurant. Best fish tacos we've had in years and the sopes are divine. The tamales taste like my mother made them. The food is beautifully and carefully prepared and the staff is helpful. Great prices for extraordinary food!

This is a small, unobtrusive quiet restaurant. The food is great, prices reasonable. Have eaten there 2 times and can't wait to go back. Next order will be for Tortas. Their sauces are wonderful and they have some pickled side dishes. The official name of the restaurant is Taquieria El Jalapeno. The couple that run the restaurant are very friendly... More
