A good little family restaurant in the Town of Washington, Va. next to the post office and just across the street from The Inn at Little Washington.

We were in town for a wine seminar and needed to grab a quick bit of lunch. Clearly a family run establishment. Not much to look at, but the service was fast and friendly. My husband's "country club" sandwich was good, as was the homemade potato salad he had as a side. I had their soup of the day -... More

I ate at The Country Cafe for the third time this past week. There was one waitress and the cafe was over half full. For the second time eating there, I had a grand conversation with folks seated close by. The food was freshly prepared. I have had both chicken and hamburger entrees, and both were great. I highly recommend... More

This place is one of the few selections in the area. (Seriously there isn't a stop light for 20 miles.) That said, the Reuben is good, but very greasy; the meat is from a store. The BLT is served in a wrap and is tasty. The cheeseburgers are okay, same with the steak (steak ums) and cheese subs. Do NOT... More

This place doesn't look like much and I was a bit concerned about the extensive menu but my grilled cheese and tomato with a side of homemade potato salad were perfect. His BLT was excellent as well. These are simple dishes that are wonderful when executed correctly and they were! Coffee was good too, and our bill, including top, was... More

Located directly across from one of the world's most famous restaurants, The Inn at Little Washington, the Country Café is its polar opposite. The tablecloths are vinyl, the menu limited and the food, well, not refined. That said, there are some days when I want food like grandma used to make--homemade cobblers, burgers, shakes and good soups. My husband and... More

I (a black woman) walked in with my (white) boyfriend on a slow Saturday morning, thinking we found a spot for some good, home-style food. We were greeted with open hostility and the waitress almost refused to serve us. After ordering sandwiches, the waitress, cook, and owner continued to glare at us until we collected our food and paid. To... More

We stopped here last Saturday for a late lunch. Everyone seemed to know everyone else there, which I usually take to be a good sign. Returning customers must be coming back for a good reason. This family-run restaurant serves a nice variety of sandwiches and desserts. There were four people in our party, and we all were happy with our... More

Good food at good prices -- you'll see why it's a local favorite! We've had lunch there several times and it's always tasty.
