We had a delicious lunch here today. I had a platter of various hors d'ouerve which included stuffed grape leaves, homemade hummus, wonderful eggplant spread, olives and a few other fabulous items to spread on the best fresh, homemade pita bread you ever tasted! My companion had the kefta with rice pilaf. The meat was spicy and delicious. If you... More

We happened upon this little restaurant by chance but have returned by choice! This time we shared a meza appetizer which is easily enough for four to share. The dips are all excellent and the pita is fresh baked. For dinner I had the lamb with portobello mushrooms and artichokes with a side of the most delicious sautéed spinach. All... More

Over the years, I have met many outstanding chefs around the world. At the Mayflower Cafe, I met my first Master Chef of the Ottoman Cuisine. If I were much younger, I would volunteer to work under the chef for a year with no compensation. Over a two night span, my table of 7 ordered about 40 different dishes. Each... More

I have lived in Virginia Beach for 20 years. My rule of thumb is to avoid eating anywhere within a block of the ocean. This place is a happy exception. It's small and unpretentious. The food, however, is far better than what you will find up and down the oceanfront.

My wife and I had just reached Virginia Beach. We were staying at the Ocean beach club right across the street. We were looking for a HALAL (dietary meat restriction for muslims similar to Kosher) restaurant. Luckily we found one right across. Not only was it halal, but the food was good too. I got a steak sandwich and my... More

The name of this restaurant comes from the hotel it's located in. Personally I think they'd do better to change the name to indicate a Mediterranean theme. The meal we had here was the best meal we had while vacationing in VA Beach. It's a small, casual restaurant but the food is fresh and delicious! Would highly recommend you check... More

My husband and I love Mediterranean cuisine so when we stumbled across this place we knew we had to try it. We both had gyros with French fries and it was delicious. The bread was so fresh and the lamb was tender and very flavorful. Even though I'm not a huge French fry person I was pleasantly surprised when they... More

I haven't eaten Scampi for years because it tends to be very disappointing but wasn't feeling like the lamb was speaking to me. The freshly minced garlic and parsley with a generous use of butter added to the angel hair pasta bathed the jumbo shrimp in a heavenly wash that restored my tastebuds to wholeness. The picture says what I... More

The Mayflower Café is a block from the beach at 34th St. It is a small Turkish restaurant in a neighborhood of mediocre Italian eateries bereft of even a convenience store. I loved it. The lamb is fresh and delicious, as local hotel workers said it would be. I had the portable mushroom, lamb and artichoke dinner which came with... More
