Every time we eat here, we wonder why we don't drive out to Upperville, VA more often. Hunters Head has become our New Years Eve dinner spot and all-around great place for any time of day. Unlike a lot of old buildings that have been re-purposed as B&B's or restaurants, they've avoided the fake antiques and over-decorated decor for the... More

What a lovely old tavern. Located in a home built in the 1790s this place has charm found in few places outside of VA. The menu is a great mix of farm to table foods, most from a farm owned by the restaurant owners, but some items sourced from across the USA. The menu is not fancy, comfort foods for... More

It is hard to beat this setting on a cold winter day. Ambiance plus! We had brunch here on a crowded Sunday afternoon. Three folks enjoyed the Shepherd Pie and I enjoyed the Chicken Pot Pie. All were very good. We did not exactly like having to get our own drinks and placing our entree orders considering the prices of... More

I love the atmosphere, the food and the service. It is always busy, so make a reservation! I found a great bottle of champagne, and some delicious comfort food to go with it. Great hamburgers, stew, fish and chips and much more! Such a casual and comfortable setting, just love it!

We went here for a pre-Christmas dinner with friends. There were 10 of all together and they sat us upstairs in private room. The place was very quaint and comfy. We started with some great appetizers from Artichoke, to French onion soup. All of the starters we got were excellent. I order Fish and Chips which was very fresh and... More

Great food, great service. Initial impression on the Friday evening after Thanksgiving was the restaurant was a little chaotic. False impression as the hostess, wait staff and kitchen were clearly on top of things. If the Spicy Shrimp and Grits are not on the menu, tell the chef to put it back on. Will be back.

We live in the area and my wife has been on my case to stop in, however every time we drive by it is packed and...NOW I KNOW WHY! This place is awesome from the wonderfully restored building, to the toasty warm fire place, to the specialty drinks, the amazing food and attentive service. Everything about the place is unique... Ever time we have passed this place the parking lot is full. Now we know why. Great food and charming setting. The food may be on the pricier side but you can tell it is scratch made and fresh so I think it is worth the money. The setup is a little different. When you enter the menu is on... More

As expected, there was a large lunch crowd the day after Thanksgiving. Four adults plus 3 grandchildren posed a challenge, but after some creative thinking we were accommodated much to our liking (at the small bar and an adjacent table). Everyone we came in contact with went out of their way to be of service.

I have been here many times and always leave happy. This is a fantastic Tavern with good food and great service. We sat outside with our dog, the server turned on the heat lamp for us and we had a delicious meal of fish and chips. If you are in the area and looking for a relaxed place that serves... More
